Saludos a todos los miembros de la comunidad, ¿cómo están? Del partido anterior de la selección de Portugal podía advertirse el poderío de los dirigidos por Roberto Martínez, el técnico español que se encuentra en esa posición desde hace tan poco que al menos en mi opinión a pesar de los resultados positivos que se han ido acumulando hasta ahora no son suficientes como para determinar si su trabajo está surgiendo efecto, sobre todo por la notoria desigualdad en la calidad y trayectoria de las selecciones contra las cuales han tenido que enfrentarse los lusos. Lo que sí me parece interesante resaltar esa decisión de contar con la participación de Cristiano Ronaldo de forma activa para los encuentros, a diferencia del antiguo técnico de la selección, Fernando Santos, quien fue criticado justo por dejar al capitán del equipo en la banca en múltiples oportunidades por desacuerdos y visiones diferentes sobre las estrategias de juego. 

El primer golpe de realidad para la selección de Luxemburgo llegó rápido y claro está lo hizo quien podríamos imaginarnos, Cristiano Ronaldo, encontrándose posicionado justo frente al arco para desviar hacia adentro la esférica luego de que Nuno Mendes bajara el centro de Bruno Fernandes, en una jugada en donde considero que intervino un poco esa suerte que todos quisiéramos tener, ya que hubo algo de sorpresa por parte del delantero en su definición, pero se destaca su atención. Escapándose entre dos de los defensas del seleccionado de Luxemburgo, João Félix se coloca en una posición de ventaja quedando solo para cabecear el magnífico centro de Bernardo Silva, no dándole posibilidad alguna al arquero Anthony Moris de hacer algo para detener el segundo gol. La movilidad de la esférica estaba casi por completo en los pies de los lusos, quienes tenían gran sentido de la ocupación de los espacios y se aprovechaban de la pésima marca de sus rivales.

Esta fue la razón por la cual, ante una corrida de Bernardo Silva, João Palhinha mete un centro que genera el tercer gol de su equipo, ya que los jugadores de la defensa rival no supieron marcar adecuadamente y el jugador luso tuvo espacio suficiente para cabecear tan bien que mandó  la pelota directo al arco de una forma en la que el arquero tampoco tuvo la oportunidad de detenerla a pesar de lanzarse hacia el otro lado de su arquería, no había mucho que pudiera hacer. Teniendo todavía sed de goles, la selección de Portugal seguiría presionando, lo suficiente como para generar una pérdida del balón, pasando al ataque rápidamente con un Bruno Fernandes que con un pase perfecto ayudaría a que el capitán marcara su segundo gol del encuentro, un doblete para Cristiano Ronaldo que lo hace consolidarse todavía más dentro de su equipo, aunque honestamente gran parte de la responsabilidad está en la pésima defensa del equipo de Luxemburgo. 

Sin querer darse por vencidos todavía, los dirigidos por Luc Holtz salieron con diferente actitud para el segundo tiempo buscando descontar del abultado marcador, presentando varias jugadas de peligro real donde el arco de Rui Patrício, que en una primera jugada a minutos de haber comenzado necesitó lanzarse al suelo para detener la esférica que iba a terminar en el fondo del arco. Luego gracias a un tiro de esquina se presentaría una gran oportunidad con un cabezazo debido a la mala marca de los jugadores lusos quienes no se percataron de que uno de los jugadores rivales se encontraba libre para recibir y tratar de direccionar la esférica hacia el arco que se supone deben defender, pero por suerte se fue hacia afuera. Considero que con la diferencia de goles, la selección de Portugal dejó con el paso de los minutos más espacios, algo que los luxemburgueses aprovecharon ya que comenzaron a desplegarse mejor en el campo de juego.

De cualquier manera, mejorar en la proposición de juego no quiere decir que aparezcan los goles porque para ello se necesita una definición que los jugadores de la selección de Luxemburgo no mostraron, a diferencia de sus carencias defensivas que terminaron por aumentar la diferencia a cinco goles a favor de los lusos gracias a la participación de un Otávio que recién ingresaba por João Félix, definiendo perfecto de cabeza un centro de Rafael Leão. Siguiendo con la tendencia de ir fuerte ante la incapacidad que presentaban de contener los ataques de sus rivales, Laurent Jans comete una falta dentro del área que le cuesta a su equipo un penal a favor de la selección de Portugal que sería cobrado por Rafael Leão para intentar seguir aumentando la cuenta… la sorpresa se presentó cuando el arquero Anthony Moris fue capaz de predecir el sitio hacia donde este patearía, por lo que terminaría evitando que este convirtiera. 

El partido no se terminaría antes de que Rafael Leão se quitara esa pequeña espina de no haber transformado el penal en gol, aprovechando un excelente pase de Rúben Neves de manera en que pudiera capitalizar el retroceso de la selección de Luxemburgo que como en la mayor parte del partido quedó mal parado, pero aun así, lo que en realidad le costó un sexto gol, fue la pésima marcación, ya que el jugador luso fue capaz de superar a tres jugadores luxemburgueses antes de realizar ese remate que terminaría en la arquería del rival, sellando así su destino. Me parece triste que los dirigidos por Luc Holtz a pesar de haber asomado unos destellos mínimos de querer plantarse dentro del terreno de juego y sacar algo de orgullo deportivo, se fueron con las manos vacías, siempre hago mención a esto porque me parece importante la deportividad por encima de todo, pero la realidad es que la selección de Portugal al ser mejor en todos los sentidos merecía este resultado.

Greetings to all members of the community, how are you? From the previous match of the Portugal national team, you could notice the power of the team coached by Roberto Martinez, the Spanish coach who has been in this position so recently that, at least in my opinion, despite the positive results that have been accumulated so far, they are not enough to determine if his work is having an effect, especially due to the notorious inequality in the quality and trajectory of the teams against which the Portuguese have had to face. What I do find interesting to highlight is the decision to count on the active participation of Cristiano Ronaldo in the matches, unlike the former coach of the national team, Fernando Santos, who was criticized for leaving the team's captain on the bench on multiple occasions due to disagreements and different visions on game strategies.
 
The first blow of reality for the Luxembourg national team came quickly and of course it was made by who we could imagine, Cristiano Ronaldo, who found himself positioned right in front of the goal to deflect the ball in after Nuno Mendes had brought down Bruno Fernandes' cross, in a play where I think that luck intervened a little, as we all would like to have, since there was some surprise on the part of the striker in his definition, but his attention stands out. Without wanting to give up yet, Luc Holtz's team came out with a different attitude for the second half, looking to reduce the heavy score, presenting several plays of real danger to Rui Patrício's goal, who in a first play a few minutes after the start needed to dive to the ground to stop the ball that was going to end up in the back of the goal. Then, thanks to a corner kick, there was a great opportunity with a header due to poor marking by the Portuguese players who did not realize that one of the opposing players was free to receive and try to direct the ball towards the goal they were supposed to defend, but luckily it went wide. I believe that with the difference in goals, the Portuguese team left more spaces as the minutes went by, something that the Luxembourgers took advantage of as they began to spread out better on the field.

I find it sad that the team coached by Luc Holtz, in spite of having shown some minimal glimpses of wanting to stand up on the field and take some sporting pride, left empty-handed. I always mention this because I think that sportsmanship is important above all else, but the reality is that the Portuguese national team, being better in every way, deserved this result.
