Greetings to all members of the community, how have you been? I'm so glad to be here sharing with you this new [#KISS Blogging Idea 164](https://peakd.com/hive-194848/@minimalistliving/kiss-blog-ideas-week-164-may-31-jun-6) that leads us to talk about possessions. To me this seems to be quite an interesting topic, because usually when we find ourselves talking about possessions, we tend to think only about material possessions. It seems that we human beings get so carried away by the material that we forget all those things that we cannot touch, such as the knowledge we have acquired during our lives. 

I think this is relevant even though perhaps the topic is obviously oriented towards material possessions, because once we realize that what we possess is not only material, it is as if our eyes are opened to the reality that we don't need so many things to live. I mean, knowing that my most valuable possessions are my knowledge, the relationships I have with my loved ones, and my emotional well-being, why would I want to have my home full of things that don't bring me the same satisfaction? Why would I feel like I'm missing something when I already have everything that fills my heart?

Many consider that the more things they have, the richer they are, when sometimes those who have less are the truly fortunate ones. It is to learn that beyond seeking material wealth, we must focus on the spiritual. I guess you could say that it is largely the fault of how it is perceived to be well off in today's society, when you do not have great luxuries, you are singled out by others, some even being called mediocre, conformists, simply for being happy with what they have. Social networks also contribute a lot in this, we see through them people who boast of luxurious items, however, sometimes some cases arise where we realize that their lives were quite empty. 

I believe that balance is the key, because we can cultivate our spiritual wealth without leaving aside certain normal needs that we human beings have to possess certain things. For example, I have always said that I really like video games, and that I would quite like to have consoles to play them, so do I stop thinking in a minimalist way? It is a matter of knowing what you need to feel full and understand that it is not about having excesses, nor pretending to change our things every month for the sake of comparing ourselves with others and fall into empty luxury, functionality is still the most important thing.

My parents have always been from a humble family, so they have been the ones who have taught me the most to learn to appreciate the little things in life, and that material things are not everything. They were always honest with me, when I asked for things, if they didn't have money, they would tell me that at that moment they couldn't please me, but when they had it, they would do their best to buy me what I asked for, and I always understood that they gave me everything they could, and if they couldn't, it was for a good reason. That taught me the value of things and of life in general, that you don't always have what you want, but that you can still be happy having little. 
 
The truth is that in my daily life I don't have great luxuries, although I know that there are people less privileged than me. I suppose that my daily life with fewer possessions would depend on what possessions I would have left, if I have what I need to live with dignity, I don't see why there would be a problem, as long as it doesn't mean that I won't have the most important people in my life. Anyway, I must admit that when one stops having what one has sacrificed so much for, one feels quite sad, but it is a momentary thing, because I know that as long as I have my family with me, the rest is secondary.
