DEC Batteries Sale Coming in Less Than a Week

I'm sure most people involved in [Splinterlands](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/what-is-splinterlands) know what **DEC Batteries** will be and have already seen the sale page:

It came with the new DEC dashboard on modernized tech and was updated during the last maintenance window this Tuesday.

So, it looks like DEC batteries went ahead on the website (as approved by the DAO vote), despite a [SPS DAO proposal](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-sps-dao-proposals) being rejected at the last minute about their first use case:

Regarding the Land [Survey](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-land-plot-surveying) "Potions" proposal, I admit I was one of the [SPS](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-splintershards-sps) stakeholders who voted **For** it until the last few hours, because I will most definitely make those expenses and 20% off is 20% off, regardless of how you put it, from this perspective.

However, I agreed with some of the arguments against the proposal (not to mention the last town hall revealed a host of expenses to be expected for holding land, if you want it productive), and after seeing the tone during the [Town Hall](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-splinterlands-town-hall) and the openness toward a "sweetened" deal, including some potential options (like the one that this presale would offer benefits early in upgrading your land [buildings](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-buildings)), I changed my vote. Enough others did that, and so, from a passing proposal it turned into a failed one.

And now, we are facing an interesting situation.

We are less than a week until the sale for DEC-B begins (and probably ends), and we don't have clarity about its usage on [land](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-land).

Since the proposal was rejected, we don't even know if DEC-B could be used to improve survey chances or not (I assume the land survey "potions" will still exist either way), and if we get a sweetened deal or not, after all.

I hope this subject gets clarified by or at the next Town Hall so that people can have informed decisions for the DEC-B sale, on Wednesday, February 8th.

Yeah, I'd want some clarification before the sale begins. Survey potions, if they are still on the agenda, should be in Q1. And 20% off is ok, but an additional 'startup kit' for land as it was described would be better.

It indeed all is getting pretty complicated. I do know and understand that they want to generate revenue to keep on investing into the game, but by some choices they made, I do fear that they are pushing away some die hard players.

Also, I do think that the soul bound reward cards could have a negative impact on SPS. If you do want to cash some earning, this is the only thing you could sell. This could flood the market.

I am getting more bullish about the new developments and plans.

I am also bullish about SPS, despite the potential selling pressure coming to replace the constant selling of reward cards.

They'll have their use cases, but to me, one use case was interesting RIGHT NOW, and that was rejected through the proposal, and not sure if a different proposal will be made and passed instead or not.

I don't really have land so I don't think I will be bothering with DEC-B but I do think that DEC-B will require some more use cases if we want it to lock in a lot of DEC. They are gamifying time but I think it's going to be a huge money sink.

Yeah, there is a lot more gamification of time in the land expansion. Aggroed even threw the idea of a different token for time in the town hall, but was quickly reminded what the reaction will be: "not another token!" :)
