This is very helpful. I actually don't have that problem, I am lucky to always just know where everything goes. I think constantly reading and having conversations helps that process as you need to understand something yourself before putting it on paper.

Honestly though it is tougher i think the less experienced and talented you are at writing. This is why i get it often because i suck at writing 🤣

Good post @gadrian. I agree that you cannot let it overtake your mind. Our minds are capable of amazing things but also of destructive things. The longer it goes along, the harder it will be to overcome. I believe you found the right solution, JUST WRITE SOMETHING!

I realized that writer's block had to do most of the time with perfectionism and pressure, writing against the clock, and trying to please people. I recommend Becoming a Writer, by Dorothea Brande. It's such a wonderful book that every blogger should read. It's helped me a lot.

I'm not a writer and I'm pretty new to blogging so I can't relate to this problem (yet 😄) but I have a friend who's a very good music producer that has the same problem sometimes.
He told me that the best solution for him is to take one or two days off, go outside and do something you like. Being outside will let your mind breathe and doing something you like will inspire you. 
Another important thing is to get a LOT of sleep! Our ideas are made and processed during our sleep, so make sure to get a lot of it during this little break.

Whenever I run out of inspiration, it's usually because I need to rest. I never have trouble writing and can always babble about anything, but in order to do my best, most creative work, I have to take care of myself and not force it. 

That said, that's just my experience in writer's land, everyone is definitely different! I'm super glad you wrote a post about this phenomenon that all us writers go through in some manifestation or another. I mean, how cool is it that you weren't feeling inspired but instead of doing nothing decided to post about it? I wandered here through Listnerds and really enjoyed reading your thoughts😊

I get it from time to time and I find myself never really writing that many posts. It's probably something that I should work on but I feel that reading and commenting might be the best solution to figuring out what post to write. It might just spark some idea.

The trick for me, has been capturing ideas throughout the years.

I have my phone where I gather notes, ideas, quotes....And my journals where I write them down too. It's like my secret stash whenever I start asking myself, what am I going to write about.

I've been writing long before blogging was a thing. FWIW I think blogging is a wonderful opportunity for anyone to express themselves.
As for writer's block. Been there had that. Sometimes there's nothing there. I used to write dark fantasy and was establishing a bit of a following. One day the well just dried up. Every time I go back there, it's hard work. I have a novel half-written that has been untouched for five years. I don't know where it goes next. So I found other interests and wrote about other things. One day the well will be full. I can wait. There's no point stressing about it. Writing at its best is organic and flows out naturally. 
As a freelancer, I'm often called upon to write pretty dry articles. My head writes these, my heart is not involved. It's like falling off a log. I suspect that writer's block is an emotive response rather than a mental one 

Not being a medical professional, I can't really speak to if Writer's Block exists. In my experience when I get any type of creative block it is usually because of something else. Not to say I can't write but my mind is so occupied with worry and anxiety that I am unable to concentrate.

Writer's block is definitely real.  Many years ago I learned a trick that would get me past the block.  Write, "The purpose of this article is to..."  You could come up with your own alternative like, "In my blog today, I want to talk about..."  It seems that once you start writing, the writer's blog goes away. Hope this helps.

It's 100% sure a thing! 
I unfortunately deal with it several times a year. Luckily, I can break out of it faster nowadays..
