At other times I eat pizza

I'm a fairly sensible eater, sure, I talk about eating copious amounts of donuts and snacks but the reality is I don't; They're *sometimes foods* I approach with relative caution considering I am diabetic - A well maintained diabetic, but diabetic all the same. I think about what I eat, watch sugar intake [comes easily] and limit carbohydrates [not so easy] despite loving carbohydrates: Bread, pasta, rice and potatoes; The usual suspects. 

During my working week I'm on-point with that strategy although my evening meal [mostly weekends] is often a little more carb-friendly. Saying no most often allows a relaxed approach occasionally; Discipline mostly but a little naughtiness at times - Some balance. Life is too short not to partake of some simple pleasures at times right? 

I've always been reasonably fit and whilst I don't have a rock-hard-body these days it's passable and serves my purpose. Besides the diabetes thing, trashed back and other injuries and pains sustained along life's journey I'm in pretty decent shape...For a 51 year old dinosaur anyway. There's things I can't do, and *things I probably shouldn't do that I actually can,* so I'm accepting of the situation. Again, life's too short to get too stressed.

Having said all that I'll admit to putting focus on how I look from a body perspective *because there isn't any hope for the face!* Part of the way I eat is angled towards that end. 

It's a physical health thing but there's other scenarios one must consider when getting older as well; One's mind and body isn't always going to be as *supple and fit* as it once was so I put effort into exercise and eating habits to support my physical health which assists my emotional health in turn. Healthy body, healthy mind and all that. 

I could eat carbohydrate-loaded food all day everyday but I'd get fat, to put it bluntly, and I don't want to do so. That additional weight may set off a chain-reaction that could cause complications or even shorten my life - Not something I'm willing to accept because when the lights go out it's dark; It's the end. 

This is not to mention the emotional state of mind over-eating and being overweight may place me in; Also an important factor. If I feel that I look ok and am healthy then I'm happier, and being happier makes me take care of myself better. 

I take a balanced approach to it saying no to the *bad stuff* most often, hard as it may be, and indulging at other times with a fairly high level of activity on a daily basis - A minimum of 90-minute hikes in the scrub, weights and stretching with additional walking in between. [Hiking and walking are different things to me with hiking being far more strenuous.] I run and gun at the range, kayak and generally keep moving pretty well - I'm fairly active. 

This approach seems to work for me, keeps me somewhat trim, if not totally terrific, and helps to keep my attitude and emotional well-being on track. 

I know people who feed themselves positive quotes from the social medias thinking they're feeding themselves *the right stuff* but whilst quotes can be a nice boost they *only have value when applied in conjunction with action*. A quote telling me how amazing I am whilst dying of diabetes-related complications and bad habits would not help much right?

I tend not to care too much about how another person runs their life unless it's someone I love and value and even then it's a choice they make independently of others I guess. 

It's none of my business how well or badly a person approaches their life but it amazes me at how poorly some treat themselves. It's as if they think themselves invincible or untouchable. Some act with impunity and no fear of complication or implication.

I'm not invincible so I take care, mostly, and feel content that those carbs are sometimes best left on the plate *as much as I want to smash down mashed potatoes all day every day!* Moderation, balance, give and take, discipline, whatever one calls it, I have to apply it to my life, and I do...Mostly.

**At other times I eat pizza** and really fucking enjoy it! 😁

It's always nice to peep in your posts they don't bore me at all. 
I like your thought when you said, " life's too short to get too stressed". I do agree with you with this. 
On your questions: About 5 months ago I started my diet and workouts because during my studies I gained weight as much as 16 Kgs and I hate being in a situation of unfit and unhealthy. Then I decided to workout and follow diet plans. I followed and leave simple carbs and sugar obliviously and shifted my daily consume as complex carbs. I used to avoid things which are rich in unhealthy fats and carbs like junk food etc. After almost 3 months when I checked my weight I had lost 15 Kg from 86kg to 70.5 kg. After achieving what I wanted slowly I started to consume carbs- not in excessive amount- and sugar. I used to drink coffee and green tea but since temperature rises sometimes above 50 Celsius where I live so I had to leave those healthy drinks. Now after few months of leaving my diet and not caring about what I am consuming, I have gained 3 kg and enormous amount of heat is not letting me to do my workouts so I am waiting for summer to end.

It seems like you went on a good diet and exercise plan and showed some good consistency. Losing that amount of weight must have made a big difference to the way you felt and also to your general health and wellbeing. 'life is too short to be too stressed' I totally agree with you in this regard but to stay happier in that shorter span, we really need to stay healthier. And you should be more careful with your diet because of your diabetes. I also have some cardiac related issues so I strictly keep myself away from oily foods and malnutrition plus I go for morning walk on daily basis. Morning walk has a lot of benefits and this should be adopted by everyone in their lifestyles. Take care of yourself and yes, the pizza looks delicious 😋

AAAAhhhhhhhh.... I was waiting for that last line! 😁 You enjoyed it! I can figure out most of the toppings, but not all. What All is on that pie? Yuummmmm my weakness is Pizza.

Pizza is awesome. This one is vegetarian and so cheese, red onion, mushroom, red capsicum (red pepper), olives and pineapple. The tomato sauce also of course. I often add chicken or pepperoni or hot salami but not always. 

Health is important, we only have one go around the merry go round after all. This post was more about health-awarenes than pizza to be honest, but most of the comments revolve around pizza. Pizza is powerful so I'm not surprised! ðŸĪŠ

Hmm...It's hard sometimes, I get it. I've had to train myself to find value in other foods and whilst I used to have quite a sweet-tooth have pretty much got it under control. For me the key is not denying it and, when I do have it, only having sweets in moderation. I also watch what I eat. I indulge in the weekends, with pizza lol. I love the quattro formaggi a lot as I am not very much into meat. Ice cream.... Me like lol. I used to have this habit when I was a student in university to eat ice cream in the winter. I still do. In the summer everybody does it, it is no fun lol.
I know that with diabetes one has to watch their diet. This has made you responsible and commited to your well being. I also think the same in regards to my health although I have no diseases. I think about having a healthy lifestyle because I noticed I feel better when I eat, exercise and sleep better. I want to take care of myself and eating junk is no bueno

Pizza is one of the best foods ever, in my humble opinion. So many calories yeah but if one stays fairly active the occasional pizza isn't too bad I think. If you're looking for a good one you should check out Goodlife Modern Organic Pizza at 170 Hutt Street, Adelaide. Well worth the effort. Also, La Trattoria on King William Street do a good job too. I think there's so many great places for pizza around here, *thankfully.*

Don't trip Galen, I have enough rock hard body for both of us. All I do is drop comments like this and my biceps shred t-shirts right off me.

*That cover image.* Without divulging too much of my Hollywood roots, I'm probably the pickiest eater you've never met. Thank God my wife's a chef. I try to steer clear from pizza unless of course it's a veggie with cauliflower crust and no sugar in the sauce but there's a few occasions each year where I *really* let loose!

I'm talkin nuts! I've been known to, a few times a year at least, to drop the gloves and consume a fully loaded veggie slice on regular crust even and damn the thing's like dessert every time!

I'm at a similar age and use a similar strategy.   When given the option of pizza or salad, 90% of the time, I'll choose salad (and usually keep the dressing on the side).     But, when I do have pizza.  It's going to have all of the toppings I love.  Thin Crust, extra sauce - just the way I want it.    

I'll enjoy every bite!!!

I try to keep my regular plate roughly > 50% veg, > 25% lean protein and < 25% carbs.  But about once a week, I splurge - and  ...

My friend, I also have a sister who was diagnosed with diabetes and it is complex to maintain her diet, there you have to take care of yourself and maintain a diet low in sugar and carbohydrates. I'm well enough I guess as in still alive lol. The ronas messed me up pretty bad, still trying to get over that, it's slow. 

That pizza doesn't look that unhealthy anyway, it looks pretty homemade and non greasy and loaded with fresh veggies, doing junk food right at least!

I actually went completely plant based for a month, just to see. It definitely did me good, but the logistics were a pain. I'm scaling back to just standard vegetarian for about 6 months, see if that delivers most of the benefits. 
Crunchy garlic bread is my achilles heel. I can't walk past it.

Vego isn't a bad way to go to be honest, although I doubt I could sustain it indefinitely. I definitely couldn't go plant based though and take my hat off to those who can sustain a diet like that. It's just not my thing despite the touted benefits.

I can only give you a virtual !Pizza

My own situation is not so good as over here the doctors give one pills to negate the side effects of other pills that they have given you and when you go and complain, they give you another pill.
I hate and have always hated pills. Oh, and will always hate pills.

So apart from the bad news, we work on some days right into the early morning hours and our eating habits suck, but even with my wonky accident damaged left leg, we walk at every opportunity that we get.

Best in my book that we can do mate and your plan is indeed very good, as a person has to spoil the self at times.

I'm not big on the whole exercise thing. I know I should do it more often... I try to compensate by eating healthy, which is complicated by the fact that I am married and need to somehow feed my husband enough to keep him satisfied.

I'm not a gym person; I hate the gym! I do the whole nature thing though and hike a lot, kayak and all. I keep active. I'm not into looking like a puffed up muscle-head as I have no one to impress [not that that is all that impressive to many I guess], more about being healthy and active. I have my down days, but hike almost every day [just off to hike now as it turns out] and stay as active as possible.

Yeah, I'm not obsessed with what I eat really. As long as it's healthy, not too many carbs, lots of veggies. And give me heaps of jalapenos, frequently. I love them. I do love pizza - a vegetarian one with lots of olives and a sprinkle of chilli and some pineapple please!!!

I'm getting back into pizza, went right off it for a little while as the kids would constantly whine that someone ate their pizza (usually middle child complaining about her brothers because she eats very specific pizza while they will happily nom any pizza).  That has since settled down XD

I still refuse to clean up after pizza night though, all those bready bits stuck to the pizza trays x_x

Pizza nights are awesome. I'm warming up for one this weekend I reckon as I have some potential toppings in the way from and old chock (Italian) man I've known for a while. He brings me some stuff, I return him some pizza. It's a good agreement and one that I get the best if as he doesn't seem to understand portion size. 😁

I have those pizza stones so clean up isn't too bad and there's no complaining...Well, I sometimes whinge to myself that I ate all the pizza...But hardly ever do I fight myself over the last slice. ðŸĪĢ
