G-dog I enjoyed this post immensely but I can tell just how much of an internal struggle you are having with this watch calling your name. 

You know you're allowed to have nice things right? Just saying. 

And you know what else? People are going to be judgey bastards anyway - might as well give them a good reason to. I'm sure we are all looking forward to the photos and the write ups about the first date you take this watch on in the wilderness. Make 'em count G-dog 😄

I was never a watch guy. My trade makes them obsolete—hands inside energized parts for 22 years. Hashtag *NoJewelry.* 

Pura got me a watch once. A really nice Kors watch, has a green face "like your eyes" she said. I wear my mothers tags around me now, my ring, and a watch. So I went from zero to three.

Well just a short while back I found a Heuer Carrera at a Diamond joint downtown that was marked down 3k which was like 85% off or some ridiculous percentage and I told her how I just had to have it. I had to man. It's a gorgeous piece of jewelry that keeps time too.

I'm totally a watch guy now sir so I get. I won't be surprised next time you show us and it's on your wrist.

If that beauty up there keeps calling my name like that and i can afford it, then I don't know how long I might be able to resist it.

I don't know.  If something makes you happy and gives you joy, that alters life a bit I'm thinking.  The happier you are, the better you feel and the better you feel, the more good you do.

That is my theory  😄  Of course I spoil myself frequently, but not before paying the bills, saving and helping others if I know of a need, so I think it is ok.

Dad's terrible at upgrading for no GOOD reason, though he has his. That's how we keep getting freaking awesome Sony televisions for a few hundred bucks - he keeps thinking 'oh, but the blacks are blacker' - seriously?? So we have this 'downcycle' kinda agreement whereby he updates, we get the new old one, and our 'old' one goes to someone in community who gave us their number 'for when your Dad gets a new TV so we can buy yours' haha. 

Thing is, Dad and I did a vipassana a few years ago where we came out with the very firm knowledge that that stuff is just endless 'wanting, wanting, wanting' - a catchcry we employ when one of us says 'oh but we really need....'. I do better at this - I refuse to be lured in. Dad hasn't. So he has some pretty swanky new stuff - like a really expensive SONY bird lens (means I get it when he dies so not complaining) for his really expensive camera (( I got his old really expensive camera). But it makes him happy, and he can afford it. I mean, he's been working all his life for it, right? 

Sounds like you have a Galen's New Watch fund.  Now what you can do is just keep your current watch seeing as it's working fine and keep your eye on the watch market and see what amazing new tech comes out.  And probably if you're anything like my sibling dearest, um and ahh and angst about it forever.  And then when your watch is finally slowing down to the point where you're having trouble salvaging it (or in your intrepid adventures the unthinkable happens and it breaks or something) Galen's New Watch fund will then be available to buy whatever fickles your tancy at the time and by then there will probably be a new improved Mudmaster Pro 2 The Sequel with even better stuff packed inside.

You know that's what I was thinking too. I have over 10 different watches, I bought a few of them and got some of them as gifts. Let me confess, I don't even wear a watch anymore. But as we all know a human is full of desires and the one that can fulfil his desires and buying power go for them. 

Yesterday, I said I am willing to buy a Fitbit despite having another health tracker but this one doesn't integrate with Actifit. However, I am resisting the temptation but for how long, I am not sure!
