Our eyes met and time stopped; We were *together.* 

It seemed we inhabited the same space. Years went by in that second our eyes were locked - and then a lock of hair fell across her face; for a split second she ignored it, then her hand moved to brush it away. The gesture broke our gaze and I was back in the room; Just a busy café again.

That was three weeks earlier and I'd come here every day since hoping to see her again. I had not seen her though. I was a fool...*It was just a look*, I'd thought to myself many times...But I'd go, day after day. The wolf. Hunting. 

I'd take my usual seat, open my book and allow the sounds of the coffee shop to fade away but I didn't see her again...Until yesterday. 

She looked casually fine...Hair slightly tousled. Its disarray suited her though.

She had reading glasses placed absently on her head, earphones plugged in and she wore denim short shorts and a t-shirt. *Casually fine.* A handbag hung from the crook of her right arm, Samsung S20 Note Ultra in the same hand and a book in the other. 

She ordered tea and swept past me on her way to the only remaining table in the café - Right next to mine. 

She smelled like a pine forest after heavy rain. Cut grass on a spring day. The ocean as the heat left the day and the light faded. A field of flowers. New fallen snow. To my wolfy hunters-nose she smelled, *delicious*. I wanted to breathe her in.

I pretended to read but studied her instead. 

She was beautiful; Achingly so. I watched as she changed a track on her phone, organised her book and sat back to read. When her tea arrived she shifted and our eyes met. 

She remembered me. I could tell. 

Her eyes widened slightly in...*interest?* 

But she dropped her gaze, shy, moved a hand to her cup, a finger lightly stroked the handle and then she tilted her head so slightly to the left and gave me a sidelong glance, coy, and this time a flicker of a smile touched her rose-coloured lips. 

I smiled what I hoped was a charming smile and not an idiotic grin, and nodded in greeting. Playing cool of course. Hers widened slightly and we just looked at one another as if there was nothing else in the room. 

It was right then I became both lost and found; In that moment my heart felt unfettered and captured at the same time and it felt right. 

It felt Torturously splendid.

That was two years ago and I've seen her every day since.

Right now, I'm driving along the coast road. The deep aqua blue of the ocean and golden sandy beach flies by to one side, craggy mountains rising above me on the other. The road ahead is a winding snake of white-lined blacktop and it's all presided over by a vivid blue sky. <sub>***<a href="https://pixabay.com/photos/people-man-woman-couple-2589818/">im src</a>***</sub>

It's a cool day but sunny and there's no destination...Just the road, the hum of truck tyres on black-top and the music coming out of the speakers, ***<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHqe5D4MsCU">ATB - Ecstasy</a>***, which seemed to play in time with the blurred white lines that rushed by.

Her hand rested on my leg as if she feared I would move away. There was no chance of that though; I was where I wanted to be. My hand rested on her bare leg, fingers stroking her cool skin absently, occasionally pushing up under the hem of her khaki shorts. Occasionally she'd squirm and my fingers would reach that little bit higher. She didn't mind.

She mouthed the words of the track so softly, just a whisper as her head moved in time with the beat ever so slightly. I'd glance over now and then and watch her lips move...she took my breath away.

We sped on the road to nowhere knowing we were right where we wanted to be; Together. It made me smile sometimes...to think of the wolf in that café two years ago - I hunted, or so I had thought. I smiled broadly, my hand gripping her lithe leg a little tighter...I wasn't the hunter at all, I was the prey, cornered and trapped by the she-wolf. 

She looked over at me knowing what that squeeze meant; A non-verbal *I love you desperately.*

I turned my head to her and smiled that lopsided smirk I knew she loved. My eyes said, *I need you now,* I knew that and she knew it too. 

Those eyes of hers, the eyes that saw through me and own to my to core, flashed slightly and her ruby lips split into a grin even as her hand slid upwards on my leg...She twisted towards me on the seat, leaned over across the big pickup, reached up and planted a kiss on my cheek...

*Find a spot babe, I want you.*
