What is going on everyone? Some exciting news has recently been announced in the video game world, and that is that a new Witcher Game is in development! In this video I will talk about some speculation about the game, hopes, and a little bit of lore involving the games! So sit back and enjoy the read!

The post confirms that The Witcher 4 is in development! But what could it be about? Well, I think the answer is obvious. Geralt’s story is done, CDPR has already said that and the Blood and Wine expansion was a perfect send off for him. Although I was hoping that The Witcher 4 would follow Ciri, I think it’s now clear that it won’t, but instead follow someone from The School of the Cat, hence the Cat Medallion.
Edit: At the time of writing it was speculated that it was a cat medallion. It has now been confirmed to be a Lynx. The School of the Lynx wasn’t originally part of The Witcher Canon, but was created as a fanfic.
You might be scratching your head and asking, “GamerGeek, what the hell does school have to do with The Witcher World". To explain this in the simplest terms possible, each school has one thing in common: they train Witchers. Outside of that, they are different. Each school specializes in a form of combat, and has different principles and believes. In the games, we do run into some Witchers from these schools.

You might remember Letho, the main antagonist from The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings. Letho is from The School of the Cat, a school of Witchers who decided to work as Assassin’s instead of Monster Slayers.

We also run into a Witcher by the name of Gaetan in The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt, DLC, Where the Cat and Wolf play. Unfortunately, most of the Witchers, outside of The School of the Wolf, we do see are from The School of The Cat.

So what are my speculations about the game? Well, before the announcements, fans were speculating that a new Witcher game could take place shortly after the conjunction of spheres, and have a Dragon Age Origins style opening, where we can choose which School we wanted to be a part of. But since the teaser image only has a Cat medallion, I’m going to have to disagree with the latter part of that speculation.
For those that don’t know, in The Witcher universe there are other “worlds”. Things can be vastly different in these worlds, with deadly, nightmarish creatures prowling all about. We actually catch a glimpse of them in The Wild Hunt when we are traveling with Avallac’h to the Wild Hunt’s home world.
During what is known as the conjunction of spheres, portals opened up from the other worlds and as a result, the creatures we now see prowling around in The Witcher games came through them and got stuck. This here was what would lead to the eventual creation of the Witchers.
I think it’s very likely that this is when the game will take place. CDPR will be able to dive into territory without having to worry if it messes with their own canon of the game. Plus, it would be interesting to see what the world was like when people actually wanted Witchers around.
But there is a one thing I fear, that CDPR will insert Identity politics into the game somehow. In one form or another, it seems that most releases do this. But CDPR is one of those companies that have steered away from real world politics in their game, so the worry is more than likely unjustified.

There is one thing I am certain of, and that’s I am excited as hell for this new game! I can’t wait to see what new adventure CDPR will send us on. What about you? ¡La publicación confirma que The Witcher 4 está en desarrollo! ¿Pero de qué podría tratarse? Bueno, creo que la respuesta es obvia.
