Gandalf (re)introduction
Hello, World! I am **Gandalf**.

That is not my real name, but even my mom saved my number as Gandalf in her phone contact list.

Wait. I already wrote that over 4 million blocks ago in [my first post on steemit](https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@gtg/hello-world)


I signed up on steem at the end of June 2016. Unfortunately the ID that is so obvious to me was already taken.  I had no other choice but to use a different account name. So I chose [**gtg**](https://steemit.com/@gtg), as in ***G**andalf **t**he **G**rey*.

~~Just recently~~ Not so long ago, thanks to the kindness of @masteryoda and @joseph, I was able to finally get the @gandalf ID on steem. This account was created two months before I even knew that steem existed or what it was.
Thank you, again!


I will continue to use @gtg for [witness purposes](https://steemit.com/witness-category/@gtg/witness-gtg). As a witness, I am doing my best to improve steem, steemit and [witness infrastructure](https://steemit.com/witness-category/@gtg/heavy-duty-witness-node-infrastructure), to make them more secure and reliable for the community.

Can I ask that you, as I would like to see witnesses in general do, briefly describe where you stand socially and politically on a few issues of your own choice.

In my opinion, this gives a better understanding of the more personal motivations that could be driving a witness at some point in time.
