Let's keep an open mind. SMTs aren't even done and even the version that is "almost" done is a bit stripped down from the original vision. As long as it is approached as a collaboration and with mutual respect it _could_ be possible that a pivot to, say, Steem Communities integrated with TRCs is best the way to go.  

Then again, maybe not. But we should avoid tribalism and rejecting anything that is "not invented here" without at least evaluating it. Thankfully with the soft fork in place and the witnesses demonstrating their ability to implement upgrades independently of Steemit we are on a good path to decide our own future.
