Ignorance is not as bad as knowing the wrong things. A man that has been fed with the wrong information tends to believe and act on the wrong information more passionately and impulsively than a man that has been fed with the right information.
Now, the statement above sounds more like an irony but this has been seen over times in my environment, maybe you have a different case at your end. We can take example from the Islamic sects in the different nations of the world that are passionately wasting life of their fellow compatriots and some, even go as far as joining others with their fake believes.
I had seen people who became sworn enemies with people they have not seen before since the day they came into being, mostly because of what their parents told them that happened many years before they were born.
A colleague in high school stated his reasons why he cannot stay in a particular state, why he would decline any offer(s) to work in that district and why he should never consider marrying there because he was told that was the state that his mum’s twin brother was killed.
The funny part that marvelled me was; this young man has never been to this state since he was born but tends to act on the stories his parents fed him with, things that happened over 30 years before his birth.
Nations had risen against another nation, people had taken the life of others, marriages had ended, contract had been lost because of wrong information that the receiver never considered verifying.
Have you noticed that people that carry rumours tends to spread it more faster that people that had a first-hand information? Have you also observed that people that heard rumours most times acts as if they were eye witnesses?
Wisdom demands that we verify information we hear to reveal the authenticity of such information. Foolishness is acting on information that was not validated. Questioning our belief systems and the ideologies around us is a great virtue worth envying.
>>While seeking for information, I better get the right information or stay deformed.
