Silent Origins

Silence. Silence. Silence.
It drops, it falls, it descends. Silence encompasses it. It falls. Silence is all around it. No entry, no exit; no escape.
Silence. Silence. Silence.

"Cli..." and Silence engulfs the sound. Wherever you are you must remember that Silence is there too, you are within Silence, Silence is within you. You cannot escape it which you carry, you cannot escape it which was there before.

The Void calls out, the Void calls in, the Void seeks to shrink into itself. The Void is empty - The Void is filled with Silence. Coming in, coming out, coming through, coming throughout. Always without.

Here - There - Here. Always the Silence returns, always the Silence is. The Silence begets all, for there was nothing before the Silence, so from Silence it all must have come. Silence is ravenous, Silence eats all. From Silence you've come and to Silence you shall return.

I love the contrast in your style on a time-line.  This is a beautiful peice. Silence is a place, a thought, an idea I love to contemplate -- for me, it's a sense of home and self-care, a place of healing and reprieve, a santuary.

Time-line? This is prehistoric. My old style of poetic prose has almost nothing to do with the poetry I now write. Or does it? Can we ever say we are not the same person?

And that brings me to silence as a place, as a concept. Makes you think of zero, and how that small concept revolutionized mathematics.

I think silence can be all these things. It is the womb, and the final grave. But it can also be oppressive, a hungry maw grabbing all that is. It's all about where you are, and silence reflects you.

Silence then, is literature, is poetry, is art.

Though sometimes good enough writing can hide that you fear the silence within. And some look to loud voices to drown silence, such as when you look for those books on self-help written by "coaches," at times. Hm.

More seriously, I think good writing comes from listening, yes. Listening can sometimes be loud. More precisely, good writing comes from extremes, and silence is one of those extremes.

Agree. But what I meant is also that to write good, we should step out of the need to produce something good, i.e. accept that if all that comes out of us is silence, that's perfectly ok.
