Perhaps you should consider a way to check your GPS on your phone with offline maps. Seems it could have become quite a bit more dangerous. Quite the haul you got there! Impressive, even if your friends managed to get more.

Thank you for the advice, but offline maps aren't very helpful there if you're not familiar with the area – it's just forest, and only the streams and forest roads can guide you. The biggest danger, though, comes from the deep ravines, which make walking through the forest difficult and can really throw you off course.

It wouldn't help you navigate much, but it would at least let you know the general area you are in, and how far you are from the closest landmark you recognize on the map. And with many map softwares you can put pins down, such as to make where your car is, or where you see a particular land mark.
