Hi, hivers, I was selected to be part of the newbies initiative and I must say I am glad. Hive is a platform that makes us newbies overwhelm but I believe with this initiative I will be able to more about hive. This post is my first task for the #newsbies-intiative. 
 
The newbies initiative team @starstrings01 @theycallmedan @aliento, have been wonderful. They have been helping us to understand the task and the platform. And the queen of engagement @hopestylist is my team lead (super excited about this), she has been so amazing.

**WHAT ARE THE BENEFIT OF SETTING GOALS?**

***Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into visible
                     -Tony Robbins***

We might have a dream, a vision or even a wish but it is in the invisible state once we make a goal on how to achieve this then, it moves to the visible state.

There are myriads of benefits when goals are set to achieve a vision, but I will be writing down few

 - Setting goals guide how to achieve a dream. You have a dream, yes, but goals help you to know how to achieve that dream

- Setting goals helps you to centre your attention on your dreams. As human beings, we get easily distracted by lots of things in life most especially social media but goals help us to stay focused

- goals help us to keep track of how far we have come in achieving our dreams. By setting a SMART GOAL, you can track your success and failures in the pursuit of your dreams.

- Goals give you a sense of purpose. Starting on hive was overwhelming for me and still is, I rarely post but just the knowledge that am part of the newbies initiative has given me fuel to stay on the platform. So yes goal setting is extremely beneficial.

**WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AS REGARDS YOUR HIVE POWER, YOUR FOLLOWERS, YOUR ENGAGEMENT AND CONSISTENCY AND ANY OTHER GOALS AS A NEWBIE'S HIVE?**

The newbies-initiative is going to run for seven weeks and I have made some goals that I believe are achievable for me.

My engagement is currently 179 and I would be increasing my engagements to 500.

Seeing this, you can ascertain how inconsistent I have been on hive however I have decided to show up on hive every day.

**Procrastination** 

I am the type that procrastinates, I wait till the very end to make a post. I will no longer procrastinate

**Friends**

Hive is a community, and like every other community, it is full of people. I would like to make friends here on hive.

**WHAT ARE THE STRATEGIES YOU WANT TO PUT IN PLACE TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS?**

Setting goals is good but having a system to achieve the said goals makes them more attainable. Systems make a goal becomes a SMART Goal. I have made quite a few goals and I will be having a system by which I can achieve my goals.

**Hive power**

To achieve my 43HP, I will be

 -  publishing quality post
 -  Participating in contests organized by some communities like hivelearners, ladiesofhives, hivenaija,dreemport. I will be adding others as I familiarize myself with hive
 -  I will also be posting in other communities like foodiesBeehive

**Followers**

To get more followers I will be
- engaging with other people's post
- I will be following others 

 **Engagements**
To increase my engagements I will be
- Replying to all comments on my post
- Making Quality comments on at least one person's post a day
- I will also be participating in threads.

**Consistency**

To show up on hive every day
- I will be curating on #dreemport everyday

**Procrastination**

To stop procrastinating I will always be making my post 24 hours before the due date.

**Friends**
I will be engaging with other people both on hive and discord. 

**WHAT DO YOU THINK MIGHT HINDER YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR SET GOALS?**

- The nature of my job might prevent me from showing up every day

- Procrastination: like I said earlier am a chronic procrastinator, though, I am positive I will be getting rid of this habit but it will still be a hindrance before then.

- Electric power: There are sometimes when we have power failure days, although I have a power bank in some cases it might be off and this will make me unable to do anything on hive

- unforeseeable circumstances: we make plans but the future is never certain, some situations may arise that might hinder me from achieving my plans

Although I might encounter some challenges however I  believe with determination and consistency I can achieve my goals, I will be keeping track of all my successes and failures every day.
