Shadow Hunters Contest Round 168 - A Cat Named Midnight

***Hello everyone. A new week always brings a new challenge. We are now in Round 168 of this contest and even so the entries are just getting better and better. Join the fun and be a Shadow Hunter. Thank you to our host @melinda010100 and to our ever hardworking judge @annephilbrick. So without further ado, here is my Shadow Hunt post for the week.***

Today I write about a stray cat. The first time I saw this cat was a long long time ago. She was just a kitten standing outside our gate. At that time I was feeding our own cats and I took pity on her and gave her some food. She was colored black and my kids named her Midnight. From that time on she would uncannily appear outside our gate during feeding time waiting for her share. She is probably the gentlest of all stray cats I have seen. She would let other strays or animals eat her food even if it means she doesn't get anything. She doesn't fight with anyone and would just walk away, hungry, when anyone steals her food. So from that time on I had to watch over her every feeding time to make sure she gets to eat. No other animals come near her when I stand guard over her. Here she is during dinner tonight.

Over the years I have tried to get her to feed inside with the other cats but she refused, preferring to just stay outside living somewhere I don't know. She's had several pregnancies already but I haven't seen any kitties from her, ever since.

And here I am standing guard over Midnight. I just can't bear to leave her on her own because even at this minute, there are 3 bigger cats ready to pounce on her were it not for me.
