Modola stared at the mirror as she tried another dress on, there was this look of dissatisfaction on her face as she adjusted the dress. *"This is okay Modola, you have tried everything in your closet and this look on your face tells that you are not satisfied"*, Mabel dropped the cloth hanger and walked out of the room. Modola ran after her, she knew Mabel wasn't a fashionista and she gets easily exhausted when it comes to anything fashion. *"Aren't you happy for me, Mabel?"*, Modola asked with a pitiful gesture. *"You are not ready for the trouble you are about to start"*, Mabel teased with her response. They both laughed and teased each other further, Modola apologized for stressing her best friend. *"I have a new red gown, should we go and get it?"*, Mabel asked. Modola jumped out of the sofa, rushed in to get dressed, and was out in a few minutes. *"You look very anxious girl, Zion is not coming until next week and I hope he is worth the stress"*, Mabel teased again as she grabbed her purse. The happy expression on Modola's face vanished immediately and she sank into the sofa. *"What's wrong? Aren't you going anymore?"*, Mabel asked as she walked towards her friend. *"I am scared and you just reminded me of my fears. What if Zion wasn't real, it's been three years now since we started talking on the phone and I am deeply in love with him"*, Modola poured out her mind to Mabel. *"You have come too far in this relationship to start thinking of negative things. Remember he is flying across the world just to meet you so cheer up"*, Mabel replied. Modola wiped her tears and hugged her friend. ---------- *Modola is the only single among her friends, she has tried settling with different kinds of men but it just didn't work out for her*. *She gave up on men and at that point, Zion came into the picture.* *He is a student but somehow, they fell in love with each other. After graduation, he decided to meet Modola who supported him while studying abroad.* *He was younger and it really bothered Modola. She was worried that he might just be pretending due to the help she rendered to him.* --------- ***Present day*** *"I am leaving for the airport and I can't wait to see you"*, Zion ended the call after Modola bid him goodbye. She felt happy and called Mabel to inform her about the news. He left his home and went to the airport. At the point of checking in at the airport, he discovered his phone was missing. *"Did I leave it at home or in the taxi"*, Zion murmured as he checked his bag. He approached one of the airport staff to ask for his flight departure time, Zion looked at his wristwatch after and shook his head because there wasn't time for him to retrieve it. He boarded the flight an hour later and hope Modola was waiting for him at the time they agreed. Modola left home a few hours before his arrival and she was really excited. She got to the airport and waited, hours passed after the time they discussed but Zion was nowhere to be found. Modola called his phone but he wasn't picking up. A lot was going through her mind and she called Mabel to tell her the latest development. She suggested that Modola should ask for information about the airline which she did but didn't get any information. She tried reaching him again but it failed and she left the airport angrily thinking she has been played again. Modola went home and waited for his call that night. She eventually got herself drunk while waiting, she wept bitterly and even thought she had been cursed as people said. She was fast asleep when her phone started ringing and even an explosion wouldn't wake her up. The caller eventually gave up after several attempts. At 5 am, Modola woke up with a migraine and Mabel was the first person she reached. They spoke for some time and while she was going through her phone, she saw several missed calls from a strange number. She called the number and it turned out to be a security officer at the airport who claimed that a young man used his phone at midnight. Her heart started racing after the security described the young man and she kept whispering Zion as she paced around the room. Modola rushed to grab her car key but the estate guards wouldn't let her out until 6 am. She eventually made them open the gate after she claimed it was an emergency. She arrived at the airport at daybreak and met with the security to ask for any information that could help her find Zion but she got nothing. Modola was sad, she drove around but didn't find Zion. *"He must have passed the night somewhere and I hope he is safe"*, Modola prayed silently. At about 9 am, she got another call from a strange number and she prayed it was Zion. Modola was happy and she apologized for leaving after Zion explained the cause of the delay and why his phone was just ringing without anyone picking up. They both went home and Modola couldn't hide the happiness in her heart. Zion spent a few weeks before returning to the states and six months after, Modola joined him. They got married and lived happily ever after.
