Al principio el instinto fue nuestro guía. No necesitábamos ni brújulas, ni relojes, ni libros de autoayuda. Bastaba con escuchar esa voz visceral, que sabía más de la vida que cualquier doctorado. Pensando que éramos más sabios, cambiamos nuestro guía por una supuesta seguridad, de comodidad, de normas sociales que prometían civilización. Y vaya que lo logramos: dominamos el fuego, construimos imperios, inventamos redes para conectar al mundo. Sin embargo, algo se nos quedó en el camino. Algo se nos extravió. ¡El instinto!

En algún punto, llegamos a la conclusión de que evolucionar era dejar de sentir. Nos enamoramos de lo predecible. Silenciamos el rugido que nos protegía y aprendimos a temerle al deseo, a la ira, al contacto. De todo eso obtuvimos a cambio cuerpos cansados, emociones suprimidas, y una sociedad hipervigilada, donde incluso sentir se vuelve sospechoso.

A mi parecer, esta iniciativa es sin duda, una rebelión frente al adormecimiento. Nos invita a desenterrar eso que todavía vibra dentro de cada uno. Nos propone que debajo de lo lógico, hay una corriente subterránea de emociones que, si no se canalizan, se pudren.

No trato de romantizar el salvajismo. Se trata de reconocer que hay sabiduría allí, una brújula que quiere apuntar. El instinto de conservación no es correr ante el peligro, es también saber cuándo parar, cuándo soltar el celular y decir esto no me hace bien. 

Ahora, hablando del instinto de agresividad, pienso que lo hemos demonizado, confundimos firmeza con violencia. La agresividad sana, la que nace para poner límites, es tan necesaria como el aire. Reprimirla no nos hace civilizados: nos hace sumisos, frustrados. Lo mismo ocurre con el instinto de seducción. No hablo del coqueteo banal, sino de esa fuerzan natural de mostrar nuestra luz, de sentirnos deseables, capaces de inspirar.

No creo que hayamos perdido el instinto, en realidad solo lo hemos encerrado en una cárcel con barrotes de rutina y miedo. Basta con una chispa, un encuentro, un texto, una canción, para que esa fuerza ascienda desde el estómago hasta la garganta, sin pedir permiso. 

Este ejercicio de escribir sobre el instinto es excavar entre capas de educación y represión, para rescatar lo que nos mantenía vivos antes de que todo se volviera un trámite. 

Vivimos en tiempos de saturación de informacion y de baja emocionalidad. Hablamos de saber de todo sobre la salud mental, pero olvidamos llorar, gritar, tocar la tierra. Hablamos sobre mindfulness mientras corremos de un lado a otro, sin aliento. Esta contradicción constante nos vuelve extraños de nuestras propias vidas. Y el instinto no puede vivirse desde el balcón: exige estar.

Soltar el lastre y dejar que el instinto salga a flote es un llamado a regresar a lo auténtico. Debemos recuperar la confianza en nuestras sensaciones. A integrar lo emocional, lo físico, lo espiritual, en un solo combo.

La gran ironía es que, al negar el instinto, no nos volvemos más racionales, sino más torpes. Pensamos que somos libres, pero vivimos presos de estructuras. Decimos que hemos evolucionado, pero no sabemos dormir bien, ni amar sin miedo, y lo más reciente: sostener una conversación sin pantalla de por medio. El precio de tanta supuesta evolución ha sido altísimo: perdimos la capacidad de reconocernos como animales sensibles.

Y, sin embargo, el instinto solo espera que lo desenterremos. A veces se filtra en una lágrima sin razón, en forma de ira mal dirigida. A veces en un deseo de bailar, de correr, de ir a una iglesia. El instinto, ese escondido, es como un musculo que no se ejercita, pero cuando lo convocamos, vuelve fuerte.

Esta iniciativa nos ayuda a honrar ese pedazo de humanidad que no cabe en dispositivos electrónicos, que no está en algoritmos.

Opino que debemos dejar de ser criaturas salvajes disfrazadas de ciudadanos. Debemos darnos la oportunidad de sentir más para vivir mejor. De dejar de pensar tanto en estupideces de sobrevivencias y empezar, de una vez por todas, a vivir.

At first, instinct was our guide. We didn't need compasses, clocks, or self-help books. It was enough to listen to that visceral voice, which knew more about life than any doctorate. Thinking that we were wiser, we exchanged our guidance for a supposed security, of comfort, of social norms that promised civilization. And boy did we succeed: we mastered fire, we built empires, we invented networks to connect the world. However, something got in the way. Something went astray for us. The instinct!

At some point, we concluded that to evolve was to stop feeling. We fall in love with the predictable. We silenced the roar that protected us and learned to fear desire, anger, and contact from all that we received in return: tired bodies, suppressed emotions, and a hyper-vigilant society, where even feeling becomes suspicious.

In my opinion, this initiative is undoubtedly a rebellion against drowsiness. He invites us to unearth that which still vibrates inside each one. He proposes that underneath the logical, there is an underground stream of emotions that, if they are not channeled, they rot.

I'm not trying to romanticize savagery. It's about recognizing that there is wisdom there, a compass that wants to point. The instinct of self-preservation is not to run in the face of danger, it is also to know when to stop, when to drop the cell phone, and say this does not do me good. 

Now, speaking of the instinct of aggressiveness, I think we have demonized it; we confuse firmness with violence. Healthy aggressiveness, which is born to set limits, is as necessary as air. Repressing it does not make us civilized: it makes us submissive, frustrated. The same goes for the seduction instinct. I'm not talking about banal flirting, but about that natural force of showing our light, of feeling desirable, capable of inspiring.

I don't think we have lost the instinct; we have just locked him in a prison with bars of routine and fear. It is enough with a spark, an encounter, a text, a song, for that force to ascend from the stomach to the throat, without asking permission. 

This exercise of writing about instinct is to dig through layers of education and repression, to rescue what was keeping us alive before everything became a formality. 

We live in times of information saturation and low emotionality. We talked about knowing everything about mental health, but we forgot to cry, scream, or touch the earth. We talk about mindfulness while running back and forth, breathless. This constant contradiction makes us strangers to our own lives. And the instinct cannot be lived from the balcony: it demands to be.

Letting go of the ballast and letting the instinct come out afloat is a call to return to the authentic. We must regain confidence in our feelings. To integrate the emotional, the physical, and the spiritual in a single combo.

The great irony is that, by denying instinct, we do not become more rational, but more clumsy. We think we are free, but we live imprisoned by structures. We say that we have evolved, but we do not know how to sleep well, or love without fear, and the most recent: to hold a conversation without a screen in between. The price of so much supposed evolution has been very high: we have lost the ability to recognize ourselves as sentient animals.

And yet, instinct is just waiting for us to dig it up. Sometimes it seeps into a tear for no reason, in the form of misdirected anger. Sometimes, in a desire to dance, to run, or to go to church. The instinct, that hidden one, is like a muscle that is not exercised, but when we summon it, it comes back strong.

This initiative helps us to honor that piece of humanity that does not fit in electronic devices, that is not in algorithms.

I think we should stop being wild creatures disguised as citizens. We must allow ourselves to feel more to live better. To stop thinking so much about stupid survival stuff and start, once and for all, to live.
