In my garden I have many medicinal plants. But today I will talk about two plants that are very similar in their benefits. The aloe plant and the kalancho plant.

# Aloe Vera:
It's a well known and sought after succulent plant for all the benefits it offers.

> En mi jardín tengo muchas plantas medicinales. Pero hoy hablaré sobre dos plantas que son muy parecidas en sus beneficios. Hablo sobre la planta de sábila y la planta de kalanchoes.

> # La sábila o aloe Vera:
es una planta suculenta muy conocida y buscada en la actualidad, por todos los beneficios que ofrece.

I have read that this plant comes from Sudan and that from there it somehow moved to other regions of the Mediterranean, Africa, Europe... etc.

The truth is that according to the studies that have been carried out on this plant, they find many elements that are the basis of synthetic medicines. Such is the case with salicylic acid... This is the active ingredient in pain relievers. This is when they attribute calming or analgesic effects to the plant.

And so many compounds such as amino acids, vitamins, antivirals, antibacterials, antioxidants, etc...

By having many compounds that are active in medications, it's given the benefit of being an effective healing plant, as well as a antihypertensive, anti-diabetes, revitalizing, rejuvenating, anti-cancer and many others.

To use Aloe you need a certain process, where you need to cut a leaf of the plant and leave it distilling for a few hours to get the gel that pours from the cut leaf. Then you have to peel it and you use the white part of it, also known as pulp, which is removed with a spoon and then can be used in different ways. Both topically and in drinks.

# The Kalanchoe Pinnata:
My other medicinal succulent is known as Kalanchoe Pinnata. It's a known plant that comes from Madagascar. Its appearance is very similar to the aloe, its difference is in the thickness of the leaf, in its edges where many children of the plant are born, and in its flavor.

> Leí en la literatura que esta planta procede de Sudán y que de allí se trasladó de alguna manera hacia otras regiones del mediterraneo, Africa, Europa... etc.

> Lo cierto es que según los estudios que le han realizado a la planta, le encuentran muchos elementos que son la base de medicamentos sintéticos. Tal es el caso del ácido salicílico... este es el ingrediente activo de un analgésico. Es entonces cuando le atribuyen a la planta efectos calmantes o analgésicos. 

> Y así muchos compuestos como aminoácidos, vitaminas, antivirales, antibacterianos, antioxidantes,etc...

> Al tener muchos compuestos que son activos en los medicamentos, se le otorga el beneficio de ser una planta eficaz como cicatrizante, antihipertensivo, antidiabetes, revitalizador, rejuvenecedor, anticancerígeno y muchos otros.

> La sábila para ser usada debe ser realizado un proceso, en donde se deja destilando por algunas horas el gel que destila al ser cortada la hoja de la planta. Luego debe ser pelada y el material a usar es la parte blanca o pulpa, que se retira con la cuchara y luego pasa a ser utilizada en distintas formas. Tanto como en forma tópica como en bebidas para la ingesta.

> # La Kalanchoe Pinnata:
> Mi otra suculenta medicinal es el Kalanchoe Pinnata. Es una planta conocida que proviene de Madagascar. Su aspecto es muy parecido a la sábila, su diferencia está en el grosor de la hoja, en sus bordes de donde nacen muchos hijos de la planta, y en su sabor.

This plant has many metabolites similar to those contained in aloe. Many beneficial effects are also attributed to the body. Used topically or ingested.

The difference is that it can be eaten or drunk. Its flavor is a little high in acidity but not intolerable. It's combined in foods like salads, to eliminate its acidity, and in juices, combined with fruits so that the acidic flavor disappears.

It's used by diabetics, hypertensive patients, cancer patients and with tumors of all kinds. And in pathologies where aloe is used, it usually follows it.

Like aloe vera, it has a small laxative effect, which is why it is used in constipation.

> La diferencia está en que puede ser comido o bebido. Su sabor es un poco alto en acidez pero no intolerable. Se combina en comidas como ensaladas, para desaparecer su acidez y en jugos se combina con frutas y el sabor ácido desaparece.
