The disappearance - Part one

<p>Jessy struggled to open her eyes. &nbsp;She felt an excruciating pain at the back of her neck. She tried to lift her head, but it was nearly impossible. Both her neck and head were killing her, and she had absolutely no idea where she was. The last thing she remembered was the bright headlights coming towards her. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>She lifts her right arm slightly, to feel for her cell phone on the passenger seat, but it wasn’t there. It must have fallen off during the crash. &nbsp;</p>
<p>“Dammit… why does it hurt so much?”</p>
<p>Jessy turned her head slightly to the right and saw her phone on the floor. She tried to grab the phone with her right arm, but it was just out of reach. &nbsp;She took a deep breath, grinded her teeth together, and quickly reached out to grab the phone. &nbsp;</p>
<p>She managed to grab it and felt relief rush over her. She checked the time on her phone and saw that it was nearly midnight. She had been unconscious for at least three hours. She managed to lay back and maneuvered the seat back to stretch her legs. She held the phone in her left hand and tried to unlock it, but struggled for a few seconds.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The pain was getting unbearable. When she finally unlocked the phone, she felt helpless when she realized she had no signal. She needed help. No one could obviously see the car from the road.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Jessy thought about just staying there, but knew she had to get out and save herself. When she opened the car door, the ice-cold wind, hit her right between the eyes. It made the headache even worse, and she climbed back into the car. She grabbed her scarf on the back seat and she had James’s old work jacket in the boot.&nbsp;</p>
<p>She put the scarf around her neck and struggled to open the boot because she was shivering too much. It started snowing again, and she knew it would be the end of her if she didn’t find help soon. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>Jessy walked slowly towards the main road. It was pitch-dark and she could hardly see a meter in front of her. &nbsp;&nbsp;It took her at least an hour to get to the road and it felt as if she just walked around in circles in the dark. She still had no idea where she was, but that didn’t matter anymore. She was finally able to get a faint signal on her phone and dialed 911.&nbsp;</p>
<p>She could not give them her location but they traced her exact location and help was on the way. Her head was still throbbing, but the scarf helped with the pain in her neck and kept her warm.&nbsp;</p>
<p>She tried to phone James, and with trembling fingers she dialed his number. She kept on getting the same message. The phone number was no longer in service. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Everything about this night felt strange to her. She had an eerie feeling and it wouldn’t go away. She couldn’t stand still for too long and walked up and down to keep herself warm. &nbsp;</p>
<p>It felt like hours before she saw the lights in the road coming towards her. &nbsp;She waved her arms and the officer was just in time to catch her before she collapsed in his arms. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
