Arranging a party is easier said than done. Some people may find it easier than others, but nobody wants to go to a boring party where they don’t have any fun!

There are plenty of things to take into consideration when you plan a party for a group of people.

You can’t just invite the people and expect them to have fun on their own. If you want your party to be successful and be something that people will remember, you need to plan carefully to make sure you consider each and every aspect and cater for everyone’s needs.

This is not so easy but remember you can’t keep everyone happy all the time!

Here are a few things to take into consideration which will help make your party more successful.

1. Guest list. Make a proper guest list and invite people that you know get along. You don’t want any incidents at your party and if you know that some people might not be compatible, don’t invite either of them. If you don’t have a choice, make sure that you place them far away from each other so that they don’t have to communicate.

2.	Delegation! If the party has more than ten guests, you might need help. If you don’t want to bring in a party planner then ask your family and friends to help. If you have a busy program it might help to delegate some of the tasks on your list to a friend or family member that you trust will not drop you.

3.	Choose a proper venue. Make sure to have a venue compatible with your type of party. Make sure to have a backup plan due to weather. If you are having the party outside, make sure that there is a place where people can find shelter in case the weather turns and vice versa. You don’t want to push people into a hall and keep them stuck inside the whole night.

4.	Once you decided on a venue, make sure to send out a proper invitation with all the information about the venue, time, dress code etc. If you plan to have a themed party then indicate this on the invitation. Not everyone enjoys dressing up so give them a choice.

5.	Make sure to have proper music to cater for everyone. Don’t only play music that you enjoy. It is always good to take other people into consideration. Even though it is your party, it is important to remember that your friends are supposed to have a good time.

6.	Decide on the type of food that you’re going to serve. Once again, take other’s into consideration. It is important to cater for everyone and not only yourself. Make sure that there is something for the vegetarians and vegans. Some people have religious restrictions on the food they can eat. Make sure to find out before you order or cook the food.

7.	Make sure to let everyone know if there are any changes to your party or venue. After you have received the RSVP from everyone, make sure to cater for a few more people that are always behind and forgot to let you know that they will attend. Some people might even change their minds after the RSVP date.

8.	Decorations always make a party more entertaining. You don’t have to be extravagant but at least put proper table cloths over the tables, and a few balloons to cheer up the venue.

9.	Make sure to cater for people that do not drink alcohol. Not everyone enjoys alcoholic beverages. Make sure to have enough sodas and water or juice to take everyone into consideration.

10. Be prepared with enough party games to make people feel entertained. The whole night doesn’t have to be about games, but it is a great ice-breaker and a few laughs always cheers up a party.

11. If you are the host, try and stay as sober as possible. If someone needs a lift after drinking too much, make sure they get home safely or let them sleep over. Order an Uber or a taxi service, but don’t let them drive. They will thank you later!

12.	Make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. There will always be a few odd ones but try and pull them in and make them feel comfortable.

Whatever happened to the old "ladies a plate, and gents a crate"?
or the dangerous, answering a knock on the door and being told: "to come as you are".
It is surprising how little some people wear at home.

Fortunately it was before videos, maybe a box brownie,
Given lots of time I could relate a few yarns about some of the parties.
