Inviting her over for his birthday felt special. She thought he had others coming for the party.

She wore my favourite red flare dress, the one with an open back and a rope across the neck. It always had a way of bringing out the chicky "her." The black heels would go with it, but the silver matched her dress better. She dressed up quickly; the Uber would soon be here.

She reached out for her red lipstick and applied it mildly after she was done applying her powder.

Soon, her phone rang, it was the Uber driver. She grabbed her red bag and dashed out in such a hurry that she almost forgot her wallet.

On getting to Dan’s house, she paid the driver and collected her change. As she stepped out of the car, she gazed at Dan’s house. It was quiet. She was surprised, it was serene, no music. She wondered if she was at the right place and on time. She checked her phone for the invite info. She was indeed at the right place, and on time.

She walked slowly and gently up the three stairs that led to his door. Before she could press the doorbell, the door opened wide.

Standing in front of her was Dan, in all his handsomeness, styled to the core with a wild smile that brought out his sexy dimples.

“Hi, you look amazing!” he said to her.

“Hi,” she smiled and replied, “Thank you!”

“Oh! Come in,” he stretched his hand to help her in.

Amanda walked like Queen Elizabeth II, glaring through the walls, pictures, furniture, everything the house beheld.

“And...where is everyone?” she asked, raising both eyebrow as she turned to facing him.

“Oh yes! It’s just me and you. Earlier, I hung out with some friends, but I want us to have this moment.” He grabbed her hands and stared deep into her eyes. “Amanda, I have loved you ever since I laid my eyes on you. I’m glad you accepted me.”

Amanda didn’t utter a word but smiled in agreement.

Then he asked her to sit while he went to get a bottle of tequila with two glasses. He walked back like someone who had just won a lottery. He sat close to her and handed her a glass, but she rejected it, claiming never to have tasted alcohol.

“Don’t worry, it’s fine,” He assured her.

Still, she refused.

So he begged her to take it, just because it was his birthday.

Eventually, she accepted. He gladly poured her a glass. As they both drank, they had a series of conversations and also played the game of “Truth or Dare.” They had so much fun that they didn’t realise they were drunk. They both fell asleep on the floor.

Amanda woke up to a monstrous hangover that forced her to miss two days of work. Dan was alright, he was used to taking tequila. A shared bottle wouldn’t harm him. Sometimes, when he was depressed, he’d finish a whole bottle and wake up to a monstrous hangover.

Amanda vowed never to taste or drink tequila again.
