### <strong><center>El mejor regalo<br> Un deseo para Noche Buena</center></strong>
<br><br>

<div class="texte-justify">Nevaba afuera y el frío en mi cuerpo me hacía extrañar mi manta, pero estaba feliz de habérsela dado a mi abuela hace muchísimas semanas.
<br><br><br>
Mamá decía que aún podíamos decorar el arbolito, también me había invitado a hacer mi carta a Santa y meterla en un sobrecito.  
<br><br><br>
Jugaba con mis padres porque querían verme feliz, aunque sabia que en sus corazones también estaban tristes desde lo que sucedió en Abril.
<br><br><br>
Sin pensarlo, los meses habían pasado rápido y me había dado cuenta de que mamá ya no lloraba en su cuarto. A pesar de ser solo una niña, sabía cuando las personas a veces fingían sus sonrisas.
<br><br><br>
Sabía que era imposible que mi deseo de Navidad se cumpliera, pero aún confiaba en que Santa me concediera una sorpresa para Noche Buena.
<br><br><br>
La nieve cubría las ventanas y en casa horneábamos galletas con manzanas. Cuando salíamos tenía calor en los lugares de mi cuerpo donde vestía muchas capas, pero mis mejillas y nariz estaban rojas porque se enfriaban. 
<br><br><br>
Cantamos villancicos con los vecinos en la plaza y para poder cenar luego entramos a nuestra casa. La comida estuvo deliciosa. Y después de un baño y cepillar mis dientes no pude evitar estar ansiosa. Preguntaba a mi madre si había sido buena ese año, sintiendo nervios porque ya faltaban pocas horas para recibir mi regalo.
<br><br><br>
Un vaso de leche dejé en la mesa cerca de la chimenea, pero sin galletas porque mi gusto por ellas me llevó a comérmelas enteras. A pesar de eso le había escrito a Santa en mi carta, que si llegaba a traer mi regalo podíamos compartirlo porque yo no me enojaba. 
<br><br><br>
Mamá y papá arropándome en la cama me preguntaron, qué le había pedido a Santa como regalo. Pero siguiendo mi regla de no revelar los deseos como se hacía con los cumpleaños, me disculpé con ellos diciendo que el secreto no podía revelarlo.
<br><br><br>
A la mañana siguiente una paloma golpeó mi ventana, despertándome a pesar de sentirme cómoda entre mis sabanas. Quise volver a mi sueño profundo pero recordé que tal vez una sorpresa me esperaba.
<br><br><br>
Bajé las escaleras con cuidado y llamando a mis padres, tenía miedo de no recibir lo que con tanto anhelo  había pedido antes. Al abrir las cajas de regalo la impactada fue mi madre.
<br><br><br>
Bajo el árbol dos cajas pequeñas tenían mi nombre y la leche en el vaso que estaba en la mesa había desaparecido para entonces. 
<br><br><br>
Al abrirlas, en una se encontraba una manta cálida y tejida. En la siguiente de varios colores venían mis galletas preferidas.
<br><br><br>
Con ayuda de mi padre, mi madre logró sentarse en el sofá de la sala. Mientras con una sonrisa derramaba algunas lágrimas. Mi padre en cambio estaba impresionado y se había quedado sin palabras.
<br><br><br>
Yo estaba inmensamente feliz, así que corrí a la nevera buscando leche para las galletas repartir. Mis galletas favoritas con la receta de mi abuelita podía saborear una vez más. Y la manta tejida que creíamos perdida, me arroparía las siguientes noches mientras acompañando a la Luna mi abuela en el cielo me protegía.
<br><br><br>
Gracias Santa por traerme el mejor regalo, que mi corazón había anhelado tanto, un pedacito de mi abuela que ahora viajará conmigo a donde sea cada año.</div>

### <strong><center>The best gift<br> A wish for Christmas Eve</center></strong>
<br><br>

<div class="texte-justify">It was snowing outside and the cold in my body made me miss my blanket, but I was glad I had given it to my grandmother weeks ago.
<br><br><br>
Mom said we could still decorate the tree, she had also invited me to make my letter to Santa and put it in an envelope.  
<br><br><br>
I played with my parents because they wanted to see me happy, although I knew that in their hearts they were also sad since what happened in April.
<br><br><br>
Without thinking about it, the months had gone by fast and I had noticed that mom was no longer crying in her room. Even though I was just a child, I knew when people sometimes faked their smiles.
<br><br><br>
I knew it was impossible for my Christmas wish to come true, but I still hoped Santa would grant me a surprise for Christmas Eve.
<br><br><br>
Snow covered the windows and at home we baked cookies with apples. When we went outside I was warm in the places on my body where I wore many layers, but my cheeks and nose were red because they were getting cold. 
<br><br><br>
We sang Christmas carols with the neighbors in the square and in order to have dinner we went inside our house. The food was delicious. And after a bath and brushing my teeth I couldn't help but be anxious. I asked my mother if I had been good that year, feeling nervous because it was only a few hours before I would receive my gift.
<br><br><br>
A glass of milk I left on the table near the fireplace, but no cookies because my taste for them led me to eat them whole. In spite of that I had written to Santa in my letter, that if he came to bring my present we could share it because I was not angry. 
<br><br><br>
Mom and Dad tucked me into bed and asked me what I had asked Santa for a present. But following my rule of not revealing wishes as was done with birthdays, I apologized to them saying that the secret could not be revealed.
<br><br><br>
The next morning a pigeon hit my window, waking me up even though I felt comfortable in my sheets. I wanted to return to my deep sleep but remembered that perhaps a surprise awaited me.
<br><br><br>
I carefully went downstairs and called my parents, I was afraid I would not receive what I had so longingly asked for earlier. Upon opening the gift boxes the shocked one was my mother.
<br><br><br>
Under the tree two small boxes had my name on them and the milk in the glass on the table had disappeared by then. 
<br><br><br>
When I opened them, one contained a warm, knitted blanket. In the next of various colors came my favorite cookies.
<br><br><br>
With my father's help, my mother managed to sit down on the living room couch. While smiling, she shed a few tears. My father on the other hand was impressed and speechless.
<br><br><br>
I was immensely happy, so I ran to the fridge looking for milk for the cookies to hand out. My favorite cookies with my abuelita's recipe I could taste once again. And the knitted blanket that we thought was lost, would tuck me in for the next few nights while accompanying the moon my grandmother in the sky protected me.
<br><br><br>
Thank you Santa for bringing me the best gift that my heart had longed for, a little piece of my grandmother that will now travel with me wherever I go every year.</div>
