Have you ever thought along these lines? Africans and non-africans alike have come to know and learn of africa from the eyes of the europeans and that is what is still being sold and bought around the world today, out of just curiosity and no bias-i doubt the former though i have seen some revealing articles that i will happily share with steemians.

Piicture this you are coming from europe where your temperature are mostly cold compared to africa of course, that alone neccessitates that you wear more clothes in other to cover yourself up right? What does a person in temperate regions need such clothing for? Mind you they were not naked, just not wearing your kind of clothing right? In all fairness does that make them primitive? I laugh to myself when i see the europeans in very hot seasons here waering just singlets and shorts to go out, why not put on your suit?

That aside though did africa really have a wayof life before then? My answer is an absolute yes.

A common myth is that Europeans taught us to read and write. In some parts of Africa that is true but only because there was no need for writing. The West Africa region had griots, wandering human encyclopaedias who were capable of recalling events and people long-long passed. Egyptians were way ahead of the world, ethiopians had poets that marveled, so also the southern african normads oainted walls of their caves to denote their hunting strategies, diet,preys and instruments they had. So if you are talking about reading and writing english then you may be right because they didnt have a need for english then.

Architecture: the wonders of egypt alone can sum up a whole book about african architecture, what about the famous groundnut pyramids of  present day kano in Nigeria or was it The Great Zimbabwe ruins in Masvingo for which the country is named are another example. The structures boast high walls and a conical tower made of granite stacked on granite without the use of mortar. They are estimated to be over five hundred years old and are still standing as testament to the genius of the builders. There were wonders and records of the exploits of african architecture before the eauropeans.

There are more in medicine, how medications were derived and are stikk being derived from nature around which healed even better than orthodox medicine.
Knowledge as the world know it now has a great root in africa as the first library which was built under king Alexandria and even till this day that town still exist since as far back as 295BC where the 12 month calender was developed as a resukt of the study done by the famous astrologers, mathematicians and physicists.

Why i had to go through time to get this is simple, i heard a famous Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie give a talk TEDx about the dangers of a single story and how it affects how people see africa, and that is what has bedeviled africa because the story that the world knows is about a certain primitive people that got rescued from dying of diseases and babarism by eauropeans, i dont know how true that is but am sure i have really learnt alot in the course of this and hope you have too.
