El amor en los tiempos del Covid / Iniciativa Nº 8 / Esa vida nuestra || Love in the time of Covid /Initiative Nº 8/ That Life of Ours
<div class="text-justify">

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmZgxUymbz5AH2A6rCRNKu6MCBLdQvsxpKRGAbZjdHeBVn/imagen1.jpg)

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmR1y6LgQUaayHb4tr1Qk3Kusm5R7vep32GwtVURoNb2Lf/imagen3.jpg)

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmUg7rNVvLfZVm6omsCwxrWyunK82Xm7wmwMrAQQnX7DsD/imagen6.jpg)

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmP7WrgWNf6fURCsXbYJYGMJztf4oEgLiK81WtwZcLdXkB/imagen2.jpg)

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmNwrbFt2xEiKEKLoozEUSHo3hSueCm5dNVtfjqrgdZWgH/firma.jpg)

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmNwrbFt2xEiKEKLoozEUSHo3hSueCm5dNVtfjqrgdZWgH/firma.jpg)

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmXJdSggQE5Ko594bMgJLSBSquk7usEus4Rp9un7efdqyD/imagen7.jpg)

<em>

I have always heard the phrase "to remember is to live" and this time our dear friend @charjaim honors that phrase with her proposal for this week's [initiative]( https://peakd.com/hive-131951/@charjaim/el-amor-en-los-tiempo).

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmZgxUymbz5AH2A6rCRNKu6MCBLdQvsxpKRGAbZjdHeBVn/imagen1.jpg)

Thinking back to the first days of this pandemic, I could remember how some of my neighbors and acquaintances when they saw me leaving the house with my mouth cover and my bottle of anti-bacterial on my back would tell me - neighbor, you are going to get that virus, that is an invention of the government to distract us from the gasoline shortage; which we are effectively starting to suffer in Venezuela along with the pandemic.

In spite of the bickering, I could say that I took care of myself as much as I could, I was the one in charge of shopping at home and also the welfare leader of my church, so I was doubly rewarded, or I could say triple, I also had to protect my diabetic mother.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmNwrbFt2xEiKEKLoozEUSHo3hSueCm5dNVtfjqrgdZWgH/firma.jpg)

Now to give answers to the questions proposed by our dear friend @charjaim in her proposal, which are well worth answering because in my opinion they are truly accurate for this occasion.

[Source](https://pixabay.com/es/photos/signo-de-interrogaci%c3%b3n-pregunta-3470783/)

**Have human beings really changed in the face of the fear that this disease still causes?

In my opinion only a small number of people still fear this disease, something I learned is that "human beings are slow to learn, unless it is the hard way" to many who thank God it did not affect them or their loved ones, they still think that this disease was invented by the government.

This leads me to think that only a small percentage of us have changed the way we value our own life and that of others.

**What were those acts of love that provoked surprise?

Among the acts that touched me the most was to see how many people who had little or no knowledge of sewing approached the call to make mouth-coverings and gowns to donate, many of these people covered the expenses involved.

Others were engaged in preparing food such as soups and hot drinks to take to the relatives of the patients confined in the covid-19 campaign centers, and also to those elderly people who were alone at home, always with due care and hygiene.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmbGiYokApR6H3dns5vmWcPMvDfwVcGPBvnQNQhmBvoGFy/image.png)
[Source](https://www.pexels.com/es-es/foto/mujer-en-camiseta-roja-con-caja-de-plastico-negra-con-ramo-de-flores-verdes-y-amarillas-7843994/)

**Were you a witness or a protagonist?

I can say that I was both, as I mentioned before I was in charge of welfare in my church and therefore it was my duty to be aware of the welfare of the other families of the church and neighbors, so I had to make purchases of both food and medicine for those affected by the disease, while in what time allowed me to make mouth-coverings in my home for my neighbors and people who I found in the street without a mouth-covering I gave them one as a gift.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmR1y6LgQUaayHb4tr1Qk3Kusm5R7vep32GwtVURoNb2Lf/imagen3.jpg)

Then after the death of my mother, I could be both at the same time to see how that work that I had done for others, was done this time for me, my mother I was a victim of this disease, not because I had suffered from it but because without pathological symptoms that indicated, due to low blood sugar that caused respiratory distress she was diagnosed with covid-19 and well it was her turn to return back to the presence of our God.

Being in the covi-19 ward and because my defenses were low, both my younger sister and I were infected, so I could see that those acts of love and service were like a boomerang that with the same love that was given, so it was received.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmUg7rNVvLfZVm6omsCwxrWyunK82Xm7wmwMrAQQnX7DsD/imagen6.jpg)

**Did you live experiences that marked your life?

Yes, many first the death of my mother, the fear of losing one of my brothers who was really complicated with the virus, because he was intubated for almost 15 days and being in another country you can imagine the anguish of knowing it and keeping quiet about it so as not to distress my mother because of her diabetes, those were days full of quiet desperation.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmP7WrgWNf6fURCsXbYJYGMJztf4oEgLiK81WtwZcLdXkB/imagen2.jpg)

**What important lesson about love in a pandemic did this experience teach you?

Another experience that marked us as a family and left us a great lesson was to value those who really are your family and friends, and those who only say they are, the day my mother was in the hospital there were many who could only give their opinion because they were in other cities or countries, but others who were just 5 minutes away, did not even bring a bottle of water, for fear of getting infected, but I saw in their social networks chatting with other people and even drank from the same glass, or were in closed places without any protection.

On the other hand, other people who live an hour or more away and who had to take several buses to get to the hospital, came during the course of the day to know about her and how they could help with their limited resources.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmNwrbFt2xEiKEKLoozEUSHo3hSueCm5dNVtfjqrgdZWgH/firma.jpg)

On the day of my mother's burial, I was not allowed to go because of the physical distress I had, because it took two days to deliver her body, relatives who had vehicles and who were only 4 blocks from the cemetery did not come to say goodbye to her, while neighbors and family who had no vehicle or money walked almost an hour to say goodbye to my mother.

On this day I was able to learn that not everyone who says they are your friend really is, but the one who is willing to be by your side despite all risks, those who are with you in the good times are more than enough, but those who support you in the bad times are only a few.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmNwrbFt2xEiKEKLoozEUSHo3hSueCm5dNVtfjqrgdZWgH/firma.jpg)

Weeks after my mother's death, some of those who told us that they could not accompany us in the hospital or at her funeral, we knew that at different times they were infected and we did not hesitate at any time to come to their aid whenever they needed it, we only thanked God for allowing us to show them another side of the coin, because we already knew how cruel and hard the disease is and above all how sad it feels not to have those who say they are your family.

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmXJdSggQE5Ko594bMgJLSBSquk7usEus4Rp9un7efdqyD/imagen7.jpg)

Since then we are a little more reserved when celebrating the good times, because now we know who our friends really are. I take this opportunity to invite my dear and appreciated friends @valrodriguez, @marlymont and @noalys to participate and share with us what their life was like during covid-19.

@charjaim ·

@gladymar1973 ·

@noalys ·
