### Quick update regarding HERTZ

TL;DR: HERTZ is an upcoming Algorithm based asset (MPA) on the BTS DEX, it predictably oscillates the feed price using a sin wave, thus creating phases of buying and selling pressure constantly back and forth forever.

* USD currently leading the poll for reference asset. It'll potentially be worth creating additional HERTZ tokens (Hertz.RefAsset.Frequency.Amp) if HERTZ proves popular.
* A [minimized reference Haskell price feed script](https://github.com/grctest/HERTZ-Price-feed-script/blob/master/min_hertz.hs) has been created, simplifying the concept and enabling CLI variable input.
* @wackou [responded to the price feed script issue I created](https://github.com/wackou/bts_tools/issues/24#issuecomment-306741609), he's interested in the idea however is currently busy with the peerplays launch. Good to see support building though :)
* I'm still [waiting to hear back from xeroc](https://github.com/xeroc/bitshares-pricefeed/issues/3#issuecomment-312132557) regarding HERTZ integration into his price feed scripts. He's understandably a very busy individual.

* I [spoke during the 25th Bitshares](https://steemit.com/beyondbitcoin/@officialfuzzy/bitshares-open-source-hangout-25-2017-06-16#@cm-steem/re-officialfuzzy-bitshares-open-source-hangout-25-2017-06-16-20170618t012403108z) hangout regarding creating/funding BSIPs/worker proposals and about my laziness in documenting my own BSIPs.
* After the 25th hangout, I wrote up a draft BSIP for introducing profit-sharing/dividends to Bitshares (MPA only). It has been merged into the BSIP repo and is published on Steemit; I'm looking for additional input on the topic (please post in the steemit thread).

* "Introducing profit-sharing/dividends to Bitshares (UIA only)" - BSIP-019 originally included the 
* Reducing the cost of witness price feed publish fees, so as to enable high frequency price feed updates on the BTS DEX.

@officialfuzzy contacted me on Telegram regarding the potential development of customized web wallets, so I created a guide on steemit regarding how to customize the Bitshares UI. The aim of this guide is to provide a fast on-ramp for new UI developers.

The guide covers the dev environment setup, editing the header/footer, changing the featured trading pairs throughout the UI and how to create new themes.

## About Gridcoin
Gridcoin is a cryptocurrency which securely rewards <a href="http://boinc.berkeley.edu/" rel="noopener">BOINC</a> computation (on top of proof of stake) on behalf of each whitelisted BOINC project as opposed to the BOINC project's owners having to pay for computation up front like our competitors would have you do (Golem/SONM/iEX).

What's <a href="http://boinc.berkeley.edu/" rel="noopener">BOINC</a>? <a href="http://boinc.berkeley.edu/" rel="noopener">BOINC</a> is an open-source volunteer distributed computing platform which utilizes the spare computer resources donated by volunteers to attempt to cure diseases, map the milkyway, search for extraterrestrial life, and any other kind of distributed computation.

Anyone who needs a serious amount of distributed computing power (100k+ CPUs) can create a <a href="http://boinc.berkeley.edu/" rel="noopener">BOINC</a> project to create a distributed cloud service of their own desire using commercial off the shelf software.

### I covered the following topics:

#### SuperBlock downtime!
* There was approximately 5 days of superblock downtime within the Gridcoin network last week caused by a lack of consensus within the superblock mechanism (the process in which we agree on the BOINC statistics to base rewards upon), meaning that BOINC computation was not rewarded for 5 days. A superblock was recently staked which ended this downtime and daily superblock mechanism is operating as normal again. During this downtime, the POS consensus mechanism was still in control, so network security was not at risk.
* To prevent this occuring again in the future, our developers are working on:
  * Cross-platform compatible superblock generation mechanism.
  * Forming superblocks on an individual project basis (so 1 project doesn't throw a wrench in the works)
  * Reducing load on BOINC web servers
  * Improving recovery mechanisms

#### Trading

* In the last two weeks the trading value of Gridcoin has decreased to approximately $0.06/GRC down from between 8 and 9 cents.
* <a href="https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/gridcoin-research" rel="noopener">Gridcoin is currently listed ranked 32nd on Coingecko</a>! 
* When [filtering Coinmarketcap by non-premined/non-minable](https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/), Gridcoin is ranked 35th!

#### Community

* We are continuing to observe a noticeable increase in new users within the Gridcoin community across multiple social media platforms.
* We have continued holding Gridcoin community hangouts on a fortnightly basis, the <a href="https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@cm-steem/gridcoin-community-hangout-034">next hangout is the 34th hangout on the 8th July</a> (Saturday at 9PM BST (<a href="http://everytimezone.com/#2017-6-24,480,cn3" rel="noopener">compare to your timezone</a>!)). Everyone's welcome to join in!
* We have a total of <a href="https://github.com/Erkan-Yilmaz/Gridcoin-tasks/issues" rel="noopener">119 Gridcoin community tasks</a>, some include community donated bounties where as others earn you respect within the community.
