And unless we have a large debt, our loss will be small, but when we do not innovate, we will not know if what is new (but controlled so that we do not have a loss), is what will give us the leadership in the industry, and thus have several times more benefits than at present.

This makes that the loss can be greater, since we not only lose when we eliminate money or resources that we already had, but we also lose when we stop gaining something that we could have gained, and this is exactly what happens when we get stuck in what we think is the peak of what we can reach today.

But stagnating does not only mean losing money by not receiving what we could have received if we do something different, but it can also mean that we are dying little by little, because technologies are advancing with or without us and another person who understands that he must constantly innovate, is someone who can take away the position we have, to a point where our benefits will be reduced little by little, which is exactly the same thing that happens when we save our money without investing it and inflation eats up the capital.

Innovating has a risk that we can control, and it can go right or it can go wrong, but when we stagnate in what we think is not going to change, we are assuming one of the biggest risks, which is waiting for another innovation to kill our business, And this is something that is going to happen sooner or later because nothing is more certain than constant change and although we do not want to accept it, every day we must take risks that lead to losses or profits, and if we decide not to take any risk, the world will continue to innovate without us and it may happen that when we see it, it is because it is too late to recover.

Todos los inversores y dueños de negocios debemos gestionar los riesgos de nuestras decisiones, ya que cada mal resultado puede significar perder algo, y es posible que perdamos en cualquier momento porque no podemos controlarlo todo, pero también es cierto que podemos controlar la cantidad que podemos perder si algo malo ocurre, y es aquí donde vemos la idea de tener una gestión de riesgo ajustada a nuestros recursos.

Y a menos que tengamos una gran deuda, nuestra perdida va a ser pequeña, pero cuando no innovamos, no sabremos si aquello nuevo (pero controlado para que no tengamos perdida), es aquello que nos va a dar el liderazgo en la industria, y de esta forma tener varias veces más beneficios que en la actualidad.

Esto hace que la perdida pueda ser mayor, ya que no solamente perdemos cuando eliminamos dinero o recursos que ya teníamos, sino que también perdemos cuando dejamos de ganar algo que pudimos haber ganado, y esto es exactamente lo que ocurre cuando nos quedamos estancados en lo que pensamos que es el pico a lo que podemos llegar en la actualidad.

Pero estancarnos no solo significa perder dinero al no recibir aquello que pudimos haber recibido si hacemos algo distinto, sino que también puede significar que estemos muriendo poco a poco, debido a que las tecnologías van avanzando con o sin nosotros y otra persona que entienda que debe innovar constantemente, es alguien que puede quitarnos la posición que tenemos, hasta un punto en que nuestros beneficios se van a ir reduciendo poco a poco, que es exactamente lo mismo que ocurre cuando ahorramos nuestro dinero sin invertirlo y la inflación se come el capital.

Innovar tiene un riesgo que podemos controlar, y puede salir bien o puede salir mal, pero cuando nos estancamos en aquello que pensamos que no va a cambiar, estamos asumiendo uno de los mayores riesgos, que es esperar a que otra innovación mate nuestro negocio, y es algo que va a pasar tarde o temprano porque nada es más seguro que el cambio constante y aunque no lo queramos aceptar, todos los días debemos tomar riesgos que nos lleven a tener pérdidas o ganancias, y si nosotros decidimos no tomar ningún riesgo, el mundo va a continuar innovando sin nosotros y puede ocurrir que cuando lo veamos, es porque es muy tarde para recuperarnos.
