Coconut water is still nascent to most people. It has started to make noise in the health food industry, but it's message hasn't been heard. Coconut water has been used for as long as the fruit has existed, and for good reason.
There is an increasing scientific evidence which supports coconut water and it's health benefits.
Daily, coconut water is making it's way into the health industry and teaming up with nutrition. Coconut water is full of vitamins and minerals such as B-vitamins, significant amount of vitamin C and minerals such as zinc, manganese, magnesium, calcium, copper, calcium and iron. Surprisingly enough, it is also full of amino acids, which we know are the building blocks of protein synthesis, thus muscle maintenance and growth.
Here is a list of benefits offered in just one cup/glass of coconut water per day:
- Hydrating
- Helps lower blood pressure
- Great digestive aid
- Fights bacteria naturally
- Relieves constipation (which is sometimes attributed to being dehydrated)
Always try to stick with the purest form of cocounut water, with as few possible additives and preservatives. The best way to get pure coconut water is from a freshly cracked young cocounut. However, depending on your geographical location, might not be possible.
Personally I have found the best brand to be Zico (see pic below). It is pure and has not preservatives. Only thing I do not like is that it doesn't come in glass.
