The 1st of every month is Hive Power Up Day. I couldn’t write a post yesterday, but since I powered up anyway, I’m making a post now.

Previously, I decided to power up one-third of the previous month’s HBD rewards every 1st of the month. However, since I barely posted anything in March, even converting all my HBD into HIVE only got me about 60 HIVE. I powered up half of that—30 HIVE—and plan to use the remaining HIVE for the operating costs of the Hive JA community. This month, I’m giving up on stacking Bitcoin (Sats)😢

March was, for me, an incredibly busy month. Preparing for the graduation of my two children, getting them ready for their next schools, and on top of that, returning to my hometown for my father’s 77th birthday celebration… Days passed in a whirlwind, and I barely had any time to post on Hive.

Even so, amidst all that, a post I recently made to the WorldMapPin community earned me over $70 in rewards (the highest reward I’ve ever received in my Hive journey), and I’m still feeling a bit incredulous about it. To everyone who upvoted it, thank you so much! I’m really happy.

Actually, during this trip back home, I thought about recommending Hive to my sister-in-law. She’s a woman who can do anything—cooking, sewing, gardening—and I felt like she’d be a great fit for Hive. There seem to be plenty of communities that would suit her, and she’s good at English and writing too. Like me, she’s a part-timer, working within the dependent income limit, so she has a bit more time (compared to full-time workers). She’s interested in building assets for herself and her family’s future and mentioned that she’s started investing through the new NISA program. I felt like we had a lot in common in terms of our work styles and interests. So, I thought maybe she’d be interested in Hive too… That’s what I was thinking.

But when I briefly mentioned the platform to her, she said,

“It’d be faster to just work.”

Hearing those words, I decided not to push the topic of Hive any further. It’s not that her words upset me or offended me at all… It’s just that I realized, once again, how incredibly difficult it is to recommend Hive to Japanese people.

This Hive account is, to me, an important asset. I once complained that part-time work is just selling your time with no compound interest, but Hive feels like the opposite—a compounding asset (though it’s closer to real-life human relationships than a typical investment, with plenty of unpredictability and things not going according to plan, which is part of what makes it interesting).

I’m resistant to viewing Hive as merely “a platform where you write posts and get paid,” but in reality, since I started posting here, my wallet has gained a bit of breathing room. And with that, I’ve also gained some emotional leeway. There’s the reassurance of having a small savings in my Hive account, plus the feeling that if something comes up, I can make money here. The fact that my part-time job doesn’t feel too burdensome despite its monotony might be because I’m doing something (somewhat) creative here. Also, stacking HP and upvoting other people’s posts every day helps or supports someone, which, surprisingly, has been good for my mental well-being.

When I think about it that way, this Hive account is like a talisman for both my financial and mental peace of mind. But explaining that to someone is ridiculously hard. I’d rather not have my sister-in-law think there’s a weird person in the family, so I quickly dropped the Hive topic. It’d be nice if I could articulate all this a bit better and talk about it with others more effectively, though.

毎月1日はHive Power Up Dayです。昨日は記事を書けなかったのですが、せっかくパワーアップしたので投稿します。

以前、毎月1日に前月の報酬のHBDの⅓をパワーアップしようと決めました。ただ3月はほとんど投稿できなかったため、HBDをすべてHIVEに換えても手に入ったのは60HIVEほどでした。そのうちの半分、30HIVEをパワーアップし、残りのHIVEはHive JAコミュニティの活動費用に充てるつもりです。今月はビットコイン（Sats）の積み立ては諦めます！

3月は私にとって、かなり忙しい月でした。子ども2人の卒園・卒業の準備、それぞれの入学準備と並行して、父の喜寿祝いのための帰省…　と、バタバタのうちに毎日が過ぎてしまい、Hiveに投稿する時間をほとんどとることができませんでした。

ただそんな中でも、先日WorldMapPinコミュニティに投稿した記事には$70を超える報酬（これは私のHive人生の中で最も高い報酬です）をいただいたりもして、まだちょっと信じられない気分です。upvoteしてくださった皆さん、本当にありがとう！うれしいです。

実は今回帰省した際、義妹にHiveを勧めようかと思ったのです。

義妹は料理や裁縫、ガーデニングなど何でもできる女性で、Hiveに向いている気がしました。合うコミュニティも色々ありそうだし、英語も、文章を書くことも得意そう。彼女は私と同じくパートタイマーで、仕事は扶養の範囲内、だから（フルタイムワーカーよりは）時間に若干の余裕があります。自分や家族の将来のために資産をつくることに関心があり、新NISAでの運用を始めたとも言っていました。働き方や興味関心の面で、私と共通点が多いような気がしたのです。だから、もしかしたら彼女もHiveに興味を持つかもしれない・・そう思いました。

でも、このプラットフォームについて少し話すと、彼女は言いました。

「働いた方が早いですね」

その言葉を聞いて、それ以上Hiveの話をするのはやめておこうと思いました。彼女の言葉に腹を立てたとか、気分を害したとかでは全くなく・・・単純に、日本人にHiveを勧めるのって、やっぱりすごく難しいなと感じたからです。

このHiveアカウントは、私にとって大事な資産です。以前、パートの仕事は時間の切り売りであり、複利が効かないとこぼしたことがありましたが、Hiveはそれとは対極にある、複利の効く資産だと思います（まあ、投資というより現実の人間関係に近いところがあって、予測がつかないこと、計画通りにいかないことも多いのですが、それも含めて面白いのです）。

Hiveを単なる「記事を書いてお金をもらえるプラットフォーム」のように捉えることには抵抗がありますが、実際に私はここに投稿するようになってから、お財布に若干の余裕が生まれました。それに伴って、気持ちの余裕も生まれました。Hiveアカウント内に多少の貯金があるという安心感に加えて、何かあってもここでお金を作ることができる、と感じているからです。パートの仕事が単調でもそこまで苦にならないのは、ここでクリエイティブ（寄り）なことをしているからかも。また、HPを積み上げて日々他の人の投稿にupvoteすることは、誰かの助け・応援になることで、それも精神衛生上意外とよかったりするのです。

そう考えるとこのHiveアカウントは私の金銭面・精神面のお守りみたいなモノでもあるのですが、それを人に説明するのってめっちゃくちゃ難しい。親戚にヘンな人がいる、と義妹に思われても困るし、Hiveの話は早々にひっこめました😅このあたりのことをもう少しうまく言語化して、人に話せるようになるといいのですが。
