Firstly, lets start this post off on a light note. Jan 26 1788 was not Invasion day. They would have been tired and not started the invasion until the 27th lol. Sorry couldn't help myself.

OK Lets get facts straight, Australia Day does not celebrate the landing of the First Fleet in Australia, it celebrates the values that we hold as Australians and the Australian way of life. This is exactly the same as ANZAC Day, it doesn't celebrate getting slaughtered by the Turks, it celebrates the Spirit of Mate-ship and the ANZAC Bond between our Brothers in New Zealand.

The current media and political "noise" regarding Change the Date is the insidious tentacles of Totalitarianism by the Extreme Left Wing. This is Identity politics at is finest. The way Totalitarianism works is that it strips a nation of its identity and culture then inserts the parties own ideals. It turns mate against mate.

There has never been any question or doubt regarding what the British did to the Aboriginals, some of which was on purpose some of which was accidental, but it was the imperial culture of that period. Over 2 hundred years have passed, we as a society have moved on.

If the activists and bleeding hearts really want to heal the hurt of the Aboriginal people in today's age, they would fight with the same passion and vigor to end the violence and sexual assaults, the drug and alcohol dependencies and the stigma associated with an aboriginal person.

The aboriginal people are suffering TODAY, suffering REAL pain inflicted by REAL people. Changing a date wont stop a kid being raped by their drunk uncle, it wont stop their mother overdosing, it wont stop the general public looking upon them with disdain.

Activists pushing to change the date only push the plight of real aboriginals further into the shadows for the perceived hurt of a few noisy trouble makers.

Good post. It only brings about more hate. I wish people could see past all the bullshit and media, rather than getting all fired up. Just reminds me of the cronulla riots and how the media loves to create a story, fueling the terror. To be honest, I turn my back on tv, politics and news. Its all bullshit, I just stay away and feel happy. I wonder what is next on the agenda lol?

# Why you and I SHOULD support Changing Australia Day
As you pointed out this day is not about First Fleet, it about celebrating the values and Australian way of life. But the date coinciding with the fleet arrival makes it a convenient target for the Extremists. Since our politicians are happy oblige we'll soon have a dual politically correct holiday: Australia Day/Invasion Day. If the date was moved to any of the remaining 364 days, it would take that arrow from their quiver. Howzat?

Or the other option, the one which I am I'm sure the majority of my readers would prefer.

We as a country, and our duly elected leaders stand up as one, and clearly and sisinctly tell the extreme left wing moment to FUCK OFF.    

If we bow to this demand, there will be another.  Its no different to a bully at school.  They pick on you, take you hat, steal you money and walk all over you, then one day you snap and you beat the snot out of them.  The bully then runs away never to be heard of again.  The extremists are the bullies and Australia is slowly winding up ready to snap.

I didnt know this debate was going on there, but my uneducated two cents worth is, if its like any other campaign like this the ones campaigning to change the date, dropped there actions for that and spent just 50% of the effort ona. Campaign for good to help the aborigines so much more would be achieved

100% true!!!  There are so many REAL issues that we could be campaigning for, but they aren't as "sexy" as this.  No one wants to think about little gets getting molested, or drunk guys flogging their wives.  
Instead we educate people on how to be "sensitive" to aboriginal culture.  My wife is studying nursing and serious nearly 10% of the units she studies are all about cultural diversity.  It makes my blood boil.
