Hey Planet Steem I have an idea.. it's crazy but it just kinda came to me..

Can you imagine if we could get a project going where alot of accounts all sign up and agree to do one post on a set day and donate all of the rewards to a worthwhile charity?

(Sure there's alot of worthy causes and I'm not trying to argue about which should be the benefactor of the massive fund raise) but the idea just kinda came to me and I wanted to get some feedback..

I know there's already been alot of super generous acts made possible by the power of Steem, I've been involved in a few but this idea is to get alot of support and hopefully some really big accounts on board!

My tiny account is making a decent amount a day, I'd easily give up a days posts to be a part of an incredibly large fundraiser powered by Steemit!

Now with the price of Steem being up I'm sure alot of you are earning decent money just for blogging. I'm tapping my fingers on a touchpad and this will earn real money for relatively little work. It's incredibly easy and we're all lucky to have Steemit as a vehicle to generate monetary rewards for having fun and being social! 

*I don't want to be in charge of this btw but I'd love for some really well known Steemers to organize this, take it by the reigns and do it all transparently so everyone's comfortable with it. I'd do whatever I can to talk to ppl here and on Discord and try to find support, I'm sure we could spitball something incredibly cool!

I think we could raise a shit ton of money if alot of people donated one measly post and we all circle jerked those posts with a certain tag that we're all aware of in advance.

Not only would we help a worthy cause but my hope would be the goodwill of the effort could come back to the platform and highlight how incredibly awesome this place is! It'd be a super promotional tool perhaps.. I'd love to hear your thoughts?!

If anyone has connections to a radio or TV show can you imagine the positive publicity this could garner?

I'm thinking if enough ppl signed up we could very well raise tens of thousands of dollars! For just alot of us to offer up ONE SINGLE POST and sharing some upvote love. @berniesanders and @haejin s battle posts earned thousands, can u imagine if we all put positive goodwill and energy from a buncha of us to a good cause!

Maybe I'm just really tired and high.. but I really think we all could do something huge and it wouldn't take much effort..

I'm in agreement that this is an amazing Idea. What I would suggest as a modification is that every users gets to pick their own charity. That way, Steemit has a "Day of Giving" where users can optionally decide to dedicate as many of their posts / payouts from that day to a Charity of their choosing.

The complexity comes about that the payout will take 1 week, then you have to do all this crazy conversion into fiat currency and lose some transaction fees and such ... unless there's a single account that all users would send their donations to for the various charities and all of those conversion fees are reduced to a single fee as opposed to hundreds (or thousands/tens of thousands).

You're nice. This is all free money to me man, I still can't believe we get paid for this! I've had a few ppl make some valid points privately that this would have alot of snags, and that maybe a ton of hastily created posts may not be a good look all dropped on one day. Still looking for ideas and throwing thoughts around though. Organizing humans is hard lol Thx FM for being one of the good guys!

Ya, I'm not sure. I think it would be cool to see people document acts of charity, like they find hungry people and buy them meals and record it and post it. And are fueled by Steempower somehow. I really like decentralized charity over professional agencies who claim to be doing it. We can actually disrupt Red Cross etc now.  

You're one of the good guys too!!

It's a brilliant idea. But how do we ensure everyone passes over their earnings from the post. Example, say 2000 people participated and decided to give the payouts of one of their posts to charity. How do we ensure that after post payout they all transfer their share?
Just something which popped in my mind.

This makes me think, what if there was a functionality in Steemit where we could allocate the payout of a certain post to a particular account? Say after you write the post, besides the 100% power-up/50-50 thingy, there is an option which says: **Payout to:** and you can actually write an account name there!
Imagine the transparency and many uses of this feature!

Ofcourse it would, we would need to have a super trustworthy member handle the cash but I know there's alot of good honest people here. I've been involved in other drives that raised a few hundred but I think we could have something set up where everyone sends one post payout to an account or someone on here that would deliver the money. It's no skin off my back because I'd only lose one post payout. There's some ppl I have in mind who have accounts worth hundreds of thousands that would probably love to be on board and would want to use this as a vehicle to do good and positively promote the platform for everyone's benefit. Atleast that was my hope..I don't think it's that crazy? But I'm left-handed and Canadian so..

Lots of charity's have been done. I'm thinking of a massive Steemit wide one, ideally with a ton of big accounts and done in a way a check is presented on air or something that we could do good for kids or animals or something and Steemit gets named somehow. I think this is a great idea, @goldenarms. I have been wondering about why Steemit as a community has not been doing a charity even before, because we could totally raise $10,000 from an event like this, which would mean the world to some charities. 

I do of course see some problems with it, and deciding who should hold the money and change it to fiat is of course a big one. Personally would I prefer it a witness did it, since they already have the trust of the community. Another problem is to choose the charity, and I don't have any suggestions as to how we should decide that. 

Anyway, I would totally join in, both with a post and upvotes for other people who participate. If many people do this, then we could make lots and lots of money for a certain charity!

Yeah it's unreal the money coming in now with Steem being up. I'm tiny and I'm happy with what I get, I can't believe some accounts man! Steemit is legitimately making ppl rich for typing some words and posting pictures 😱 Crazy

The power would be in the numbers and if we could get alot of big Steemers on board?... Some ppl make a thousand bucks on one post. I make 12-20 and I'd easily give that up. It's all free money and were lucky to make anything. Theres alot of greed on here but there's also more generous ppl and I think we could do something massive!
