I need to sign up for Goldmoney! Those complicated sign ups are definitely a deterrent! I remember when some users tried to sign up for Steemit and it took over a week! 

Part of the problem Steemit has is dealing with the bots and spammy accounts signing up and flooding the platform with basura. Steemit has been successful in part because you don’t have to really verify your identity.
