The singing Trolls are back. But is there any idea to keep their story interesting? Read my review...

That the Trolls would still return was more than certain. The first part was a huge box office success and it is no wonder that DreamWorks is trying to get the most out of it, as it did with Shrek and Madagascar. This time, the creators extend this world even more, showing viewers that the heroes we met four years ago are not the only Trolls in the world, but only belong to one of the six tribes. Alongside the Pop Trolls we already know, there are Techno Trolls, Country Trolls, Classic Trolls, Funk Trolls and Rock Trolls. Each group has its own musical string, thanks to which it functions and enjoys life. However, when someone gathers all the strings, he will make his music take over all lands.

The creators must have watched too much of the last phase of Marvel's films, because the main theme is confusingly similar to that about Thanos. Only the main antagonist is neither so scary nor ruthless. The desire for rock to be the only music in the land is nothing more than a whim of a girl bored with the current state of affairs. Rebels, because only such people, according to the creators, listen to this music. Besides, the specter that everyone will only have to listen to rock (and those classic pieces) does not fills me with fear. The opponents in the first part were more diabolical, not only because of their actions, but also because of their appearance.

The second problem of this film is the lack of an idea how to develop the main character, who was necessary in the previous part, and now the plot could do without her. Maybe that's why, in the main plot, more of the burden falls on her friends like Branch and Biggie. History hates it, but it's kind of fun to put an entire marketing campaign into a non-essential character. It seems to me that the fault of the director, director Walt Dohrn, who has no idea how to diversify the film and give it the right shape, is a lot.

Trolls 2 are full of stereotypes and simplifications portraying fans of a given music. Techno listeners like ultraviolet colors and country lovers are cowboys. In this example, the creators want to explain to the youngest viewers that diversity is normal and not to be afraid of. For there are more things in common than between us, and the differences are only superficial. The writers also suggest to viewers that mistakes made by our ancestors can be corrected. It is not worth harboring a grudge and cultivating old feuds just because previous generations did. This is a very important lesson, which, given in this way, can appeal to the youngest viewers and stay in their heads for longer.

The authors of the script were inspired not only by the MCU, but also by other cinema hits, such as Mad Max: Fury Road, which is undoubtedly alluded to by the vehicle and the surroundings of Princess Barb.

The film is traditionally full of voices that music fans should know well. In addition to Anna Kendrick, James Corden and Justin Timberlake from the previous installment, we will also hear Ozzy Osbourne, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Gwen Stefani and Sam Rockwell. They all sound great and give their characters their own character traits. Rockwell in particular is doing well in the role he is entrusted with, but I don't want to throw a spoiler here, so I'll stop at that. The dialogues are full of humor that meets the tastes of both older and younger audiences. At least in the English language version (only this is available for now).

Maybe Trolls 2 fall into the trap of many sequels, and their story is not as captivating as the first part, but they still provide a lot of entertainment to the youngest, and the selection of songs will take older viewers into their teenage years, because most of the songs come from the late 90s. that DreamWorks studio will return with the third part in a while.
