Hola, hola, mis estimados Foodies.

Esta semana que pasó estuve full de actividades atendiendo compromisos pendientes, así que si algo estaba esperando con ansías era la llegada del fin de semana para finalmente tomarme un merecido descanso. Ahora bien, que terminase un poco cansada no quiere decir que no fuese una buena semana; de hecho, me pasaron cosas geniales, como conseguir fresas a $1.8 el kilo. ¿No les parece una maravilla?, a mí sí, pues de inmediato me vi haciendo mermelada de fresas, que me encanta, luego recordé que tenemos nueva máquina de helados en casa, y entonces, todo tuvo sentido.

>This past week I was very busy attending to pending obligations, so if there was one thing I was looking forward to, it was the arrival of the weekend to finally take a well-deserved break. Now, just because I ended up a little tired doesn't mean it wasn't a good week; in fact, some great things happened to me, like buying strawberries at $1.8 a kg. Don't you think it's wonderful, I think that's great because I immediately found myself making strawberry jam, which I love, then I remembered that we have a new ice cream machine at home, and then, everything made sense.

Como niña con juguete nuevo, ese día llegué directo a la cocina montando todo para la mermelada. Al día siguiente, o sea ayer, mientras disfrutaba de la #PlatziConf fue el momento propicio para preparar ese heladito de fresa que tanto me hacía la boca agua de solo imaginarlo.

The next day, yesterday, while I was enjoying the #PlatziConf was the right time to prepare that strawberry ice cream that made my mouth water just imagining it.

Antes de continuar, les aclaro que la idea de la mermelada es endulzar la mezcla de helados e intensificar los sabores; sin embargo, usted puede sustituirla por azúcar al gusto, o combinar ambos, es decir, un poco de mermelada y un poco de azúcar. Todo depende de que tan dulce quiera su helado. En mi caso con la mermelada es suficiente para darle el toque justo de dulzor.

>Before continuing, I clarify that the idea of the jam is to sweeten the ice cream mixture and intensify the flavors; however, you can substitute it with sugar to taste or combine both, that is, a little jam and a little sugar. It all depends on how sweet you want your ice cream. In my case, jam is enough to give it just the right touch of sweetness.

### Ok, comencemos...

Como a toda fruta, primero debemos lavar muy bien las fresas, más cuando las hemos comprado en oferta, pues nunca se sabe la cadena de distribución y todas las manos por las que han pasado. Una vez lavadas, les quitamos el tallo y las llevamos directo a la licuadora.

As with all fruit, we must first wash the strawberries very well, especially when we have bought them on sale because you never know the distribution chain and all the hands they have passed through. Once the strawberries are washed, remove the stems and put them in the blender.

El siguiente paso no supone nada extraordinario, es básicamente incorporar el resto de los ingredientes _(leche líquida, crema de leche y mermelada)_ y licuar todo lo suficiente hasta obtener una mezcla homogénea. Ahora bien, es importante destacar que en lugar de agregar directamente la crema de leche, también podrían hacerlo con nata montada; sin embargo, licuando la crema de leche como les indico el resultado es espectacular, tanto en sabor como en consistencia.

>The next step does not involve anything extraordinary, it is basically to add the rest of the ingredients _(liquid milk, milk cream, and jam)_ and blend everything enough to obtain a homogeneous mixture. # Bien, continuando… 
Como en mi caso voy a utilizar una máquina de hacer helados, lo ideal es llevar la mezcla previamente al congelador por unos 10 minutos aproximadamente, de esa manera evitamos que suba la temperatura del tazón de congelado al agregar el líquido. Finalmente, se agrega la mezcla en la máquina y se deja procesando por unos 40 minutos más o menos.

Transcurrido este tiempo, ya el helado está listo para ser servido; no obstante, si lo dejan en el congelador de un día para otro, la consistencia del helado se eleva al siguiente nivel de una manera sublime, además los sabores se intensifican magnificando el resultado final.

As in my case, I am going to use an ice cream maker, the ideal is to put the mixture previously in the freezer for about 10 minutes approximately, that way we avoid the temperature of the freezing bowl to rise when adding the liquid. Finally, add the mixture to the machine and let it process for about 40 minutes or so.

_Pro Tip: antes de apagar la máquina agrega un poco de mermelada de fresa y quedarán unos deliciosos hilos dulces en el helado._

Por cierto, la cesta de galleta en la que serví el helado la preparó mi esposo, y debo reconocerlo, le quedó gloriosamente exquisita…prometo robarle la receta pronto para compartirla con ustedes.
