## This isn't really an intentional song idea,

I was trying to use sounds I haven't ever touched, some new ones from Native Instruments' <a href="https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/komplete/ozone-elements-hybrid-keys-for-free/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=iZotope%20&%20NI%20free%20products%20all%20%7C%20prod+DJs%20%7C%2018/05/21&utm_id=a8d8f27b-b8a7-43b6-b2f7-dbf7e39b45d2">Hybrid Keys</a> (still available for free for a few days), some ROLI sounds I haven't used, and some other samples/one-shots from soundpacks that have just been sitting in my Ableton browser, haha. I started with a Hybrid Keys instrument, though I don't remember which, as I recorded it to Track 1. This plays a little 12 bar line in Bmajor, though I went in a totally different direction afterwards, so a bit of a random intro. However, there is a part at the end, which can be seen in the screenshot at the top, made up of chopped up segments; I copied the tail end of that instruments' recording, and pasted it a few times, reversing every other clip. This actually resulted in an interesting sound, so I'll take that short little drone and try and use it in a more complete, intentional song. Track 2 was next, where I added a drum rack, and went through some of those aforementioned sample libraries/packs to find a snare, kick and hat sound. I did a little tweaking with the filters, so that the velocity alters the dry/wet of the filtered sound. This gave me some cool variations in the hat and the snare, though the snare at a specific velocity had a lo-fi sort of vibe, so I just copied with that across the board.</div>

## Track 3 uses one of the new Hybrid Keys' sounds I liked

We're in Dmaj, and basically move from D to G to F#min, and Bmin to Emin to D again, though this instrument only handles single notes. Tracks 5 and 6 are grouped together, both of which are random little vocal samples I found in one of the other soundpacks I was looking through. Track 5 only swells in a D major chord (sort of a choir sound), which wound up sounding cool over the D to G to F#min, adding a maj7 to the G and sort of fading out over the F#min. It also plays over the B to E to D, adding other extensions here, making that simple 1 note line in Track 3 a lot more interesting. Track 6 was a single note vocal clip, from a pack I got for free from ADSR, which just swells in a D over the first half of the progression; as it fades out, I added a pitch bend to fit with the changing harmony, which doesn't sound very natural, but has a cool digital quality to it I like. Track 7 was added to be our bass line, though I realized after exporting this that I had just mapped out the rhythm, and totally forgot to move any notes around, so it just drones along on a D, haha. Tracks 8, 9 and 10 all add the plinky, tiny little piano-ish sounds which play at various points.</div>
