##
FACS - Teenage Hive

## FACS is a contemporary band that I

I figured this would be a nice change, as I've been tending to share bands/artists from previous decades, despite my best efforts to share new artists, haha. I can't help it, when I hear a song during the day, it'll get stuck in my head and has to be the song of the day. FACS were formed in Chicago, IL in 2017 by Brian Case and Noah Leger (both previously of the band Disappears) and Alianna Kalaba (of Cat Power and We Ragazzi). The band has played throughout Chicago and the US over the last 3 years, and has released three full length albums in that time period, all of which I've enjoyed quite a bit. They have a bit of a '90s post-hardcore element, along with a post-punk sort of artiness that I'm always partial towards.

I don't remember how I stumbled across it specifically; I was going down a Spotify rabbit hole, listening to bands, then related artists, then bands that members of those bands were previously in, etc., which eventually led me to FACS. I really liked the cover of the album, so I gave it a listen, and wasn't disappointed. This song is the 'single' I suppose, since there is a video, though in the streaming world, a unitary single that is used to promote an album feels a bit dated. The song has a sort of darkness to it that I definitely feel is very much post-punk influenced, though it's qutie energetic, and definitely reminds me of '90s Dischord Records bands in some ways. The track is also in an odd-meter (specifically in five), though it's quite groovy, and doesn't feel particularly weird at any point. If you enjoy the track, I definitely recommend checking out the whole album, it's well worth the time.
