##   Distorted Pony  - *Dollar Pizza*


## Distorted Pony is a band
I only discovered this past year, which is surprising as I have been a big fan of their drummer London May for a long time.  They were formed in 1986 in Los Angeles, CA by guitarist David Uskovic and bassist Dora Jahr.  In their early years, they remained a two piece, with a drum machine backing them up, though eventually May joined the group, along with Robert Hammer providing a second guitar.  They're considered a 'noise rock' band, they have a lot of elements of various 'sub-genres' of rock and metal in their music.  The riffs are often super heavy and metal influenced, though the rhythm section is less so, as May's drumming is a bit simpler, and more 'rock' oriented.

## This song is from the band's
second full length album, ***Instant Winner***, released in 1994.  They were not a two piece by this point, and the production on this release had improved quite a bit from their early material.  This song was the first I heard from the band, so I think it's a good starting place.  The guitar is dark and dissonant, and definitely shows the metal influence at points, but May's drumming gives the song a much more unique vibe.  The vocals are also interesting, in that they don't really take center-stage in the track, and are instead more just another element, along with the instrumentation.
