## Like most people, my introduction

However, at some point, someone showed me the rest of their discography, and I was so instantly hooked, not just on the music, but the whole 'De-evolution' theme, and the hilarious attitude the band has adopted in general.  The group was originally formed in 1973 in Akron, OH, with their 'classic' line-up consisting of the Mothersbaugh brothers: Mark and Bob, the Casales brothers: Gerald and Bob, and Alan Myers.  The name and general 'theme' of the band was de-evolution, poking fun at the idea that humanity, as it becomes more and more technologically advanced, becomes less and less evolved emotionally and intellectually.  The band developed a completely unique sound to fit this theme, initially as more of a standard rock and roll band (with some synths/keyboards), but as they wrote and released more music, began to incorporate more electronic and synthesized elements, since that technology was becoming cheaper, and more widely available at the time.  The band continues to perform, tour and release new music, with a slightly altered line-up, including Josh Freese on the drums, and without Bob Casales, who unfortunately passed away.  Mark Mothersbaugh also went on to a very successful career scoring film and TV, such as for Nickelodeon's <i>Rugrats</i>, <i>Dumb and Dumber</i>, and more recently, Netflix's <i>Tiger King</i> docu-series.  Today's song comes from the bands debut full length album, which has one of the greatest titles of all time: <i>Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!</i>, released in 1978.  This is one of my favorites, and has a really great, totally weird break, which is very <b>Devo</b>-y.</div>
