# <center><b>Q And Not U</b> - <i>Soft Pyramids</i></center>

The band was formed in 1998 by John Davis, Christopher Richards, Harris Klahr, and Matt Borlik, though after their first album Borlik left the band and they continued as a 3-piece for two more albums. They were an important part of the D.C. post-hardcore scene, and created a sort of spastic, dance-punk sound that was quite different from other groups in the scene. Their final album got more experimental instrumentation and arrangement, and the band really pushed their sound to a new place. They broke-up in 2005, though their influence has remained, with lots of other groups citing them as a favorite. Chris Richards has since gone on to become a pop critic for The Washington Post. Today's song is from the band's 2002 album <i>Different Damage</i>, and stands apart on that album as one of the more relaxed, chill tunes. The rest of the album is definitely more high-energy and angular, which I love, though this song is probably my favorite (and others as well, apparently, as it's their most played song on Spotify).</div>
