The band was first formed in 1979 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was made up of Paul Westerberg (vocals, guitar), Bob Stinson (guitar), Tommy Stinson (bass), and Chris Mars (drums) for the majority of its existence.  The band began as a punk band but, even early on, always had influences from a wider array of music; as the band members grew up, their music evolved, incorporating these influences more, and allowing the band to become one of the first 'alt. rock' bands, creating a sound and style that would be replicated by countless other acts that followed them.  The group originally split in 1991, but reunited in the 2010's for 3 years, performing a series of shows, and a number of festival gigs.  Today's song comes from the band's 1985 album <i>Tim</i>, their major label debut.  The band had been getting a lot of attention from critics and the music press, and was set up to be 'the next big thing', but their wild onstage antics, and drunken backstage behavior held them back, and caused them to never really get their due on the mainstream stage.  This isn't my favorite album of theirs overall, however, it has some of my all-time favorite tracks, like this one.</div>
