I need another source of income - so I applied for LYFT.... - what car will I use? - what do I need to prepare?
Hello!

I thought to myself for several weeks what the hell am I going to do? I don't make enough at my current job, I am just getting by, but I'll never see a vacation or even a trip to visit family anytime soon if I don't add more ways to bring in income. I'll never see any cool creative making gadgets and gizmo's either. I thought about LYFT or UBER for awhile but didn't want to put wear on my car. Its an older 2006 CTS, but it does have low milage and has alot of life left as long as I drive easy and take care of it. So now I'm figuring wtf. Let's give it a try. I wouldn't be doing it everyday. Maybe a few rides a week here or there if the money is decent \ good.

Cars are meant to be driven right? I love to drive on top of that never minded it. I drive manual and nothing but manual. It's funny, now manual is an extra cost. Few years ago manual used to be cheaper then automatics. Getting back on topic! Here is my car that I will be using, Cadillac CTS 2006, six speed manual. Its old and its my baby. I had it now for little over a year and has been going strong. Recent replacements I had done is a new clutch (previous driver was a freakin dumb dumb and could not drive it), clutch assembly, and driveshaft bearing. Now the thing drives smooth as hell. More so then it did before.

The car has plenty of space and maybe I'll win some points for the "fancy" factor. Like I said its older, but I think the car is aging well. I never owned a caddy before in my life. I did own an old lexus sc300 but that seen better days, it was just a blast to drive. Back to the caddy, like I said a lot of space, its comfortable, ac works great (about to be summer around these parts), tons of trunk space if the passengers have luggage.

Some caddys are huge but this one is more streamlined, still a long car but not a big a some other older caddys. Some older caddys are literal boats or massive tanks of sheet metal. The car has some wear and tear its not perfect in every single aspect but its clean and I think it would work well for LYFT. One last shot of the front:

Some pro's I been thinking about. Extra money, a chance to do something different aside from my corporate IT job. A chance to be out in the sun with the windows down enjoying some fresh air. Meet new people, have some interesting conversations and be more sociable.

Some con's I been thinking about. Wear and tear on my car. You never know who your going to meet, hopefully everyone is nice and respectful of me and my car. I'd like to keep it clean and running for a few more years. Hopefully there is work available, especially at peak ride share times. Also the cost of some equipment needed to stay prepared while being on the road. Lets break that down:

Items I been thinking about that I'll need for this. First thing is first, dash cam, both internal and external camera's. That is number one. Everything will be on camera. God for bid there is an accident or the passenger acts up in some way, its all right there on camera, video cannot be disputed. This can get expensive and I really don't have any funds to go out and buy one, but I do have my old S7 phone. I can easily turn this into a dash cam for the time being with a simple app. It'll even do the dual camera footage using the front facing and external facing camera's. Some other simple supplies, flares road side stuff, can never be too careful. When I make a few bucks I can get a real dash-cam if I keep doing this for that monies.

That is all for now. Still waiting on the background check to finish which should be fine. Every other aspect for the application is complete.

Any one out there drive for LYFT?
What are your thoughts?
Did I leave anything out to prepare etc?

I appreciate any feedback.

**As always,
Work hard, stay humble and Steem on!!**
