Berlin is not a tourist city in its entirety. Obviously it is not Paris, Barcelona or Rome, cities that have a special charm for tourists, be it for their history, for the art that emanates from their streets, buildings and monuments, for their beaches or for their centuries-old traditions.
Berlin (and Germany as a whole) represents the strength and power of a solid economy in which tourism plays a secondary role.
But this does not mean that the so-called "smokeless industry" or tertiary sector of economic activities is neglected.

There is a certain sector of tourists who are attracted by the German capital, by its simplicity, by some historical structures that remind us of a not very happy period in German history and of course by the perfectly functioning public services.
However, this constant drive to lead the European economy has led to an exaggerated propensity to promote all economic activities without exception.
Unlike radio or television advertising, which can be switched off or turned off at the user's wish, static street advertising is doubly intrusive in the daily life of Berliners because it is impossible to ignore it. We look up and we see it.

As is customary in Germany, the German Advertising Council sets out in its rules a series of guidelines for discrimination in advertising.

The idea is to bring Berlin to a similar case as São Paulo in Brazil, where street advertising is banned with the famous so-called Clean City project.
In this way, the Brazilian city has become a mecca for a sector of art (e.g. graffiti) that has made it possible not only to beautify the city but also to create real open-air museums that can be observed and contemplated without being distracted by intrusive and out-of-context advertising.
In other words, advertising is everywhere in Berlin. From advertising of an institutional, necessary, useful, instructive, sometimes even invasive nature, to simple private commercial advertising.
