Since the innovation of special effects in the film industry, there are many elements in the acting personification that have been relegated to the background.

The technical and special effects are so spectacular and effective that the editing task is more important and time consuming than the directing itself.

I remember a phrase from the great Marlon Brando when a journalist asked him why he was not going to attend any premiere of his film and the great actor replied: "because 

I do not identify with what I see, it is how the film would have been interpreted by someone else actor".

Obviously he was referring to the fact that cuts, montages and other effects - already at that time - distorted or substituted a good part of the acting work.

And films of the "horror" genre do not escape this variable.

Personally, I prefer the acting part to the technical part, no matter how effective it is. The special effects nunga have managed to convince me too much (except in some specific cases).

Instead the personification of an actor is, at times, decidedly phenomenal. Who can forget Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest to make an example. Or the roles of Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks in Philadelphia. Pure performance. Guaranteed acting quality. No special effects.

> Desde la innovación de los efectos especiales en la industria cinematográfica hay muchos elementos en la personificación actoral que han quedado relegados en un segundo plano.

> Los efectos técnicos y especiales son tan espèctaculares y efectivos que la tarea de montaje es más importante y lleva más tiempo que la dirección misma.

> Recuerdo una frase del genial Marlon Brando cuando un periodista le preguntó por que no iba a presenciar ninguna premier de sus película y el gran actor les respondió: "porque no me encuentro identificado con lo que veo, es como la película la hubiera interpretado algún otro actor".

> Obviamente se refería a que los cortes, montajes y demás efectos -ya en esa época- desvirtuaban o substitutían una buena parte de la labor actoral.

> Y las películas del género "horror" no escapan a esta variable.

> Personalmente prefiero la parte actoral a la parte técnica por más efectiva que ésta sea. Los efectos especiales nunga han logrado convencerme demasiado (salvo en algunos casos concretos). 

> En cambio la personificación de un actor es, a veces, decididamente fenomenal. Quien se puede olvidar de Jack Nicholson en Alguien Voló Sobre el Nido del Cucú para hacer un ejemplo. O los roles de Denzel Washington y Tom Hanks en Filadelfia. Actuación pura. Calidad actoral garantizada. Sin efectos especiales.

Stanley Kubrick has had the credit of filming some classics of world cinema.

Obsessive in detail to the point of repeating a scene dozens of times, he has directed memorable works such as **A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, A Clockwork Orange and The Shining** among others.

Many of the artists who have worked with Kubrick such as Shelley Duvall the main female lead have stated that it was a real nightmare to work with him. Perfectionist to the extreme. Endless hours of recording with minimal breaks.

Despite having received a fierce attack by specialized critics in the United States (who sometimes have very particular parameters to award films) **The Shining** was, over the years, becoming a reference within the cinema called "cult", according to many one of the classics of terror that we should all see at least once in our lives.

> Stanley Kubrick ha tenido el mérito de filmar algunos clásicos de la cinematogría mundial. 

> Obsesivo en los detalles al punto de hacer repetir decenas de veces una escena, ha dirigido obras memorables como **Una Odisea en el Espacio, Full Metal Jacket, La Naranja Mecénica y El Resplandor** entre otras.

> Muchos de los artistas que han trabajado con Kubrick como  Shelley Duvall la protagonista femenina principal han declarado que era una verdadera pesadilla trabajar con él. Perfeccionista al extremmo. Horas interminables de grabación con descansos mínimos.

> No obstante haber recibido un feroz ataque por parte de los críticos especializados en los EE. UU. (que tienen a veces parémetros muy particulares para premiar las películas) **El Resplandor** fue, con el pasar de los años, convirtiéndose en una referencia dentro del cine llamado "de culto", según muchos uno de los clásicos del terror que todos deberíamos ver por lo menos una vez en nuestra vida.

The Overlook Hotel is located at the top of a mountain in the Colorado region in the USA The intense snow storms make it completely isolated from the rest of the region for part of the year, being able to travel the distances only using the snow cats.

Jack Torrence accepts the job as a caretaker knowing that the nearest town is more than fifty kms from the hotel and being warned by the hotel manager who, among other things, warns him that the previous caretaker has gone mad with loneliness and killed his entire family, he decides accept the same.

He believes that it can be a quiet and natural place that allows him to finish writing his novel and give up the drink that he has become dangerously fond of in recent years.

To complete the family panorama, he will be accompanied by his son and his wife.

Between Jack's hallucinations, his total dependence on drink and the visions of little Danny, his son, an atmosphere of growing terror gradually takes shape in which his wife tries to flee with her son, frightened by the violence in his behavior. of her husband.

The hedge of garden plants that begin to move into animals, Jack's violent attack destroying the bathroom door and shouting "Here’s Johnny" have become iconic scenes of world cinema.

In his homicidal delirium, Jack gets lost in the hotel's own labyrinth while his wife recalls scenes from the past, finds the corpse of the cook (killed by an ax by Jack) taking advantage of his car when some roads begin to be passable after the storm of snow.

> El Hotel Overlook se encuentra en lo más alto de una comtaña en la región del Colorado en los EE. UU. Las intensas tormentas de nieve hacen que durante una parte del año quede absolutamente aislado del resto de la región pudiendo recorrer las distancias solo usando los gatos de las nieves.

> Jack Torrence acepta el trabajo como cuidador sabiendo que el pueblo más cercano dista mád de cincuenta kms del hotel y siendo advertido por el director del hotel que entre otras cosas lo advierte que el cuidador anterior enloqueción por la soledad y mató a toda su familia, decide aceptar lo mismo.

> Cree que puede ser un lugar tranquilo y natural que le permita terminar de escribir su novela y dejar la bebida a la cual se ha aficcionado peligrosamente en los últimos años.

> Para completar el panorama familiar se hará acompañar por su hijo y su esposa.

> Entre las alucinaciones de Jack, su total dependencia de la bebida y las visiones del pequeño Danny, su hijo, se va configurando paulatinamente un ambiente de terror in crescendo en el cuál su esposa trata de huir con su hijo asustada por la violencia en el comportamiento de su marido.

> El cerco de plantas del jardín que comienza a moverse hasta transformarse en animales, el violento ataque de Jack destruyendo la puerta del baño y gritando “Here’s Johnny” se han transformado en escenas icónicas de la cinematografía mundial.

> En su delirio homicida Jack se pierde en el propio laberinto del hotel mientras su mujer va reevocando escenas del pasado, encuentra el cadáver del cocinero (asesinado de un hachazo por Jack) aprovechando su auto cuando algunos caminos comienzan a ser transitables después de la tormenta de nieve.

Jack Nicholson's performance is memorable, with so much of hallucinations, schizophrenia and repressed violence and is very reminiscent of **Strapped with No Exit or Somebody Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest** depending on the country.

Excellent soundtrack using contemporary classical musical compositions by Ligeti, Penderecki and Bartok.

The most remarkable thing about the film is that Kubrick manages to make the viewer believe that the characters are not trustworthy, neither Jack with his delusions, nor his wife with a past that is not entirely clear, nor his own son with all the visions of what his father will do in the future.

It is well known that bringing a Stephen King work to film is more of a challenge than anything else. It requires patience to read his books. Imagine the labor of the director to make a movie.

But Stanley Kubrick proves that nothing is impossible and that suggestion, enchantment, mystery and also terror by the paranormal have never been entirely foreign to him.

> La actuación de Jack Nicholson es memorable, con tanto de alucinaciones, esquizofrenia y violencia reprimida y recuerda mucho la de **Atrapado sin Salida o Alguien Volo sobre el Nido del Cucú** según los paìses.

> Excelente la columna sonora que usa composiciones musicales  clásicas contemporáneas pertenecientes a Ligeti, Penderecki y Bartok.

> Lo más notablke de la película es que Kubrick logra hacer creer al espectador que los personajes no sean confiables, ni Jack con sus delirios, ni su mujer con un pasado no del todo claro ni su propio hijo con todas las visiones de lo que su padre hará en el futuro.

> Se sabe que llevar al cine una obra de Stephen King es más que nada un desafío. Se requiere paciencia para leer sus libros. Imaginemos la labor del director para hacer una película.

> Pero Stanley Kubrick demuestra que nada es imposible y que la sugestión, el encanto, el misterio y también el terror por el paranormal nunca le han sido del todo extraños.
