Bahnbetriebswerk, Wahren-Leipzig. Buildings and structures of interest. April 22 (Part two).
There were many plans during for the site at the tail end of the last century, such as expanding the existing 32 lines to 64, this was a big marshalling yard handling diesel, electric and good old steam engines.( The last steam loco fired up as late as 1988) But these never came to fruition and the depot was abandoned in 1995

I have always loved these gothic German Fonts, "the factory workers" entrance. It took me into the basement area, from where I made my way up to the roof-space

if these curtains really are original they are in great condition for being over 30 years in place. there was nothing to suggest that the building I was in was a squatters den...........

An invoice from 1950 for repairs to a tank-car, an item of rolling stock used for transporting liquids, and gasses. 

Parts and labour 256 east German DM, which by a rough calculation is circa Β£1,800 in todays money.

Alfred Miller born 1915, a memo from 1950, detailing his service and what could be a consideration for promotion?

*"E**mployee Miller Alfred has adult education and is a trained plumber since 13.9.1945 he has been with the reichsbahn, he worked as a locksmith until 1946 and in 1946 was taught a course for autogen and electric welding*

*S**ince 1950 he has been a plant planner and technician for order preparation.*
