Hey All, While scrolling through my feed on X (formerly Twitter), I came across an interesting picture that explored the concept of CONTROL. To be precise, what is within our control and what is not. As I read through the points presented, whether about things we can influence or those beyond our reach, they made perfect sense. It was a reminder that many of our worries/tensions is around trying to change the uncontrollable rather than focusing on our actions, mindset, and choices. In this post, I want to present my thoughts around the pointers that are highlighted especially the ones which is in our CONTROL. Discussing why recognizing these distinctions is essential and how shifting our perspective can lead to greater peace and productivity. Are we rude then definitely we need to think twice and change accordingly. The people you choose to spend your time with. How are they good or bad ambitious, forward looking etc etc because how you surround yourself with people is what you will become. Simple example if you surround yourself with people who are always discussing the negative side of things then your thought process will also be inclined towards the negative side of things. But whereas if you surround yourself with people who are full of positive things and sees the brighter side of things the chances of growth here are more as opposed to staying with people with negative energy. The next point is around how one treat others. Good Vs Bad. Polite Vs Rude and so forth. Expect good for good and bad for bad. This is in our control and the shift can easily happen considering what you want from others. Respect for Respect its that simple. Now lets have a glance over the pointers which is not in our CONTROL... ### What's - NOT IN OUR CONTROL... What other thinks should be none of our business. As we cannot change others opinion at all. Let them think as they want as it shouldn't matter to you at all. But the reality is that it does matter a lot as we take other people opinion very seriously and folks who doesn't are the ones who enjoy life better. The future that's also not in our control and hence why to worry so much about the future is the question when its not in our control. No body know what's going to happen next. As an example is the market going to crash tomorrow we don't know right. It could crash lets say but then it can recovery as well. So there is no point worrying about the future when its not in our control. The way people speak and treat me that's also in our control. If someone has a habit of being rude or negative, we cannot always change their behavior, but we can control how we respond. For example, if a friend speaks rudely, we can choose to stay calm and not react at all. Just let it go. By setting boundaries and responding with kindness or confidence, we influence how others treat us over time. Next and the last point that I would like to touch upon is AGING... that's is also not in our control. We all will age that is for sure and the best part is to age gracefully and the best thing we can do is to accept it and take care of ourselves. Instead of worrying about getting older, we should focus on staying healthy, happy, and enjoying life at every stage. Spread the kindness and happiness all around. Hmmmmm But if you are good speaker, and are good at reading body language most of that outside stuff "seems" to be in your control. And that past, its totally in your control. The future isn't so much. And, if you are like an adult child-of-a-narcissists, those boundaries are not really in your control, and that also destroys your self-talk. Who i spend time with is not very in my control, if there are no friends in your life. Sigh, this chart just doesn't work for me. :-(
