# Climb up the ladder. When the dancer becomes the Lightpainting Tool

There was one earlier post when I showed you my first attempts with Chriss. I wanted to check if that works. Just passing by in a rhythmic fashion, Chriss and I created with her body and with my flashlight, set to strobe mode, wonderful shapes in the room. This time we decided she would dance up the ladder in the center of the tank.

Ich beleuchtete Ihren Körper mit meiner Taschenlampe im strobo Modus. So wurde sie zum Lichtwerkzeug. Sie hat so mit mir zusammen die Lichtspuren erzeugt. Dieses mal die Leiter hoch. Viel schöner um den Raum auszufüllen.

Frozen moments like that live on because we all see how beautiful she had to move to create these trails. Her body was made to move in this elegant way. Yes!

## How does it work?

At first, she dances across the scene and I shine the light onto her when she moves in a way I can see filling the space and creating shapes that will feel dynamic. She moves up the ladder from crawling on the ground creating an uprising pattern with a nice bow then up the stairs reaching out left and right to create the wide shapes. Like tentacles of an octopus.
> Zuerst tanzt sie durch die Szene und ich strahle Licht auf sie, wenn sie sich auf eine Weise bewegt, die ich schön fand, um den Raum zu füllen und Formen zu schaffen, die sich dynamisch anfühlen. Sie tanzte kabbelnt vom  Boden zu Leiter nach oben und erzeugt ein aufsteigendes Muster in so schönen Formen. Das war was ich wollte. Fast wie ein Oktopus mit seinen Lichtarmen

After lighting her, I light the rest of the Tank in blue and yellow so we get a feeling for the space and get a reference of what's happening and where. 

## What were the settings for the main shot?

|	  The main shot is 181, the second 111 seconds long and the other shots all are about 30 seconds single exposure with the camera set to ISO 400. In order to get the cool angle, I used the LAOWA 12mm Zero D F2.8 lens. Totally worth it.    	|	     Das erste Light Painting ist eine 181 Sekunden, das zweite 111s lange und alle anderen Aufnahmen sind etwa 30 Sekunden lange Einzelbelichtung bei der die Kamera auf ISO 400 eingestellt war. Um den coolen weiten Blickwinkel zu erhalten, habe ich das LAOWA 12mm Zero D F2.8 Objektiv verwendet.   	|

## Getting to the tank.
The tank is located pretty much in the middle of what's now forest. Being December and pitch-black at 5 pm makes it a Blair Witch Project from the start. So get there early on a Sunday afternoon. Thank you for the trust layed in me we walked through the darkness while rain and snow.
We kept joking around about who will be the one surviving all the madness here. In the end, we all made it home safe and sound without a glitch. 
> Der Tank befindet sich ziemlich genau in der Mitte des Waldes. Dezember und um 17 Uhr stockfinster, klingt wie der von Anfang an zu einem Blair Witch Project. Also schnell los damit wir sehr früh an einem Dezember Sonntagnachmittag da sind. Wollen ja noch was sehen. Danke für das entgegengebrachte Vertrauen, dass wir bei Regen und Schnee durch die Dunkelheit gelaufen sind. Wir machten immer wieder Witze darüber, wer den ganzen Wahnsinn hier überleben wird. Am Ende sind wir alle ohne Panne nach Hause gekommen.

Arriving in the Tank it was so nice. No wind and at least 10 degrees more. Let's camp here. All the equipment found a "corner".
