The availability of construction sand depends on the location and availability of sand and sandstone deposits. Sand , especially concrete sand, is one of the more expensive varieties of construction aggregates. You can dredge natural deposits or in some areas dig it out of the ground. A lot of sand is created by crushing sandstone deposits into sand. The shape of the resulting sand determines if it can be used in construction (desert sand is too round). The highest value sand is used in fracking and to make glass. The biggest limiting factor in sand availability is the cost to transport it due to the high weight to volume ratio. If you want to invest in sand try Vulcan, Martin Marietta Materials or Summit Materials. Although those companies are currently very expensive (imo). Cement is the most expensive component of concrete and if anything will limit construction of concrete buildings from a commodities perspective it's cement. If you want to invest in cement try Cemex or LafargeHolcim. Martin and Summit (previously mentioned) also have cement operations.
