So a couple of days ago I had absolutely no idea what Steemit was and had never heard of it before. *I did know what cyrptocurrency was though,* because my husband @rlamasb had already persuaded me to get into that and I had already made some profit, [which I talk about in my introduction post!](https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@hannahlicious/who-is-hannahlicious-let-me-introduce-myself)

*Anyway,* I was working and my husband messaged me to say:

**I was seriously confused as an outsider. I had so many questions.** *You get paid to write? But write about what? Who is paying you? And where does the money come from?*  To me, it didn’t sound legit. My husband showed me some Steemit posts, and sent me a couple of Youtube videos for me to watch about Steemit and I thought: **what the heck, i’ll sign up!** 

When you sign up for a Steemit account there isn’t the same instant gratification that you have when you sign up for any other social media platform in 2017 like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc. I was surprised to see that I had to wait for my account to be manually approved. I guess to make an analogy: it would be like if a guy took a girl out on a date and was really sure she was going to let him come back to her place that night. *Then*, when he’s on the doorstep she gives him a peck on the cheek and says, *"Thanks for tonight, see you soon!"* and slams the door in his face. **Steemit had my attention, and I was waiting for that approval email with severe anticipation.**

When I got approved like 6 hours later at 1am… I couldn’t sleep, I had this ideas in my head about something that I wanted to write, [credit card hacks to save you money from the perspective of the customer service rep.](https://steemit.com/credit/@hannahlicious/six-magic-credit-cards-hacks-to-save-you-money-usdusdusd) I sat at my computer and typed it out, figured out how to make parts of it bold and insert an image. I posted it and eventually went to sleep about 2:30am, when I had to be up in 3 hours. 

When I got up to start my day I saw that my post hadn't made too much I was a little deflated. *Also, I clearly didn't know how to format properly (Still don't). Check out my newbie # symbols in the title:*

 I still had to do the **IntroduceYourself** tag I had read about. I work from home, and my productivity on that first day of Steemit was abysmal. I was so distracted, [Out came the intro post](https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@hannahlicious/who-is-hannahlicious-let-me-introduce-myself) and **BAM**:Upvotes, and dollars were appearing! Most importantly, people were *actually* reading what I had written and were replying and giving me advice - it was exciting!

I am not naive, I know that **IntroduceYourself** can be an easy was to make a few dollars on Steemit and doesn’t necessarily determine your success going forward. However, I was really enjoying the dopamine rush that all these comments and up votes were giving me, and I thought - [Why not make an Intro for myself in Spanish?](https://steemit.com/spanish/@hannahlicious/quien-es-hannahlicious-un-pouco-sobre-mi) I studied Spanish at uni, and it is pretty rusty now but I thought it would be a great way to both practise the language and also get to know the Spanish speaking 


Granted I didn’t make as much from my Spanish intro as the English speaking one… but because I posted it, I have come across some cool Spanish speaking Steemians like @anahilarski who seems to be a strong female presence in the Crypto world and also likes to blog about other things i'm into as well, like eating ice cream and churros. I think it will be a great way for me to practice my Spanish just by reading their posts and commenting. 

**Speaking of commenting**, I discovered that you don’t just have to write your own posts here on Steemit to make a few crypto cents, you can also make that money through engaging in other peoples content too which is really cool!

*I know it's only 30 cents, but 30 cents is still 30 cents....* and @trevonjb has a video about how you can make up to $20 a day just by commenting on posts in Steemit, which I watched today.

**If there’s any place to come to learn about Crypto, it’s Steemit.** That is one of the reasons i'm here.  Not only are there so many people on here who know a lot about Crypto and are sharing that information that you can learn, but also in sharing information and commenting on other’s posts you are going to receive Crytocurrency in return. 

I am still so new and have so many things to learn. One thing I have noticed is that *my posts have devalued slightly over the last 24 hours,* my IntroduceYourself went down from being worth $72 to being worth $69, is this because of something I did wrong, or **is this because the market for Crypto does seem to be crashing at the moment?**
