I totally agreed with you, this is really important to make people feel safe, and free to be then-selfies with no fear of been stalked or even offended by any disrespectful people that might be fallen in here, I know there is the button mute, but i'm not really sure about how it works.
on the other hand since steemit is Build with a blockchain and this for definitions must be transparent and even indexed on google, I think I could be for some of those reason impossible to completely block a person like we can do in Facebook, because this person can just log out his account and keep looking at our stuff just using google, but surely steemit may be able to prevent Unwanted person to post or try contact trough our posts.

Thanks for sharing. I hear about this happening, but don't often see examples. As a man not accustomed to the private messages sent to women I feel mildly uncomfortable... glad you can take it in stride.

First off @hannahlicious great post! It's so nice to see someone call out us men for this.

It seems like far, far too often men find that hitting on a woman or making moves on them is completely appropriate behavior especially as a first contact. They need to know that this is not acceptable at any rate. Women don't post on here to gather suitors, they post on here for the same reason we do. To share our experiences and make friends!

As for the polite plasticity if the definition is any indication of his meaning it would seem he wants to politely mold and shape you ha ha.

Edit: Completely forgot to mention the blocking! I think this would be a great addition to help curb the impolite behavior that can be seen on all social media. However not sure how feasible it would be the way Steemit is built, who knows though maybe one day!

You can mute any user by clicking the button on his profile. However that does not block him for seeing your posts. I have not used the chat so I do not know if that will work also there, probably not.

The problem is in how the block chain actually works if I understand it correctly. You cannot "block" because each post is like a "world of it's own" - attached to your account id. You can mute so their things are taken out of the display when the UI presents them, but behind to block would mean that this user cannot see your records at all and on a fully transparent Block Chain, that's impossible and would break the record of the ledger which is what a block chain is. The social media is just a "layer" of interface on top of something more like your bank book. If you blocked a transaction, youd basically be missing your entry in the ledger and that would not "balance" in the ledger. I am explaining this terribly, but the bottom line is "blocking" in the twitter / FB sense is not possible because that's not how block chains work.

Now that fact is out of the way, Yes, a block feature would be great. But steemit is still in Beta Release, and lacks lots of features that Fake-Book and other social media have. BUT, those silly sites LACK the Payouts that STEEMIT is FAMOUS For!  :D
