Even the Splinterbites recognize the "almighty" Llama+Kron nowadays so I thought I'd share another victory against them with you.
## Battle Conditions

Today in silver league we have to assemble a team within 24 mana limit. Melee attack monsters are banished while the ranged attackers are allowed to strike from tank position.
The allowed splinters (Fire, Earth and Life) leave room for those two feared summoners Yodin and Llama. While the *Close Range* ruleset wants to be played by Yodin, the low mana cap suggests Llama.
I suspect the Llama based on my opponents history and prepare my team.
## Lineup
I start humming to [Nana's - He's coming](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9lbCrjqMKw) and mumble
>He's coming! He's coming. He's here: Llama's fear. With Rathe by my side I will crush it out of spite!
Ok, enough trash talk. Let us get to our team:

|Grandmaster Rathe|The Chaos Legion hero against magic attack. Providing void armor, a +1 armor buff and amplify ability, very useful when combined with reflection.|
|Pelacor Conurer| Life team has them both: Blinding Reflector and Pelacor Conjurer bring magic reflect but since melee is banned we have to rely on the Conjurer to save the day.|
|Adelade Brightwing|No Rathe team without Adelade. She repairs armor and thanks to Rathe everyone has some. She also resurrects the first casualty for a second chance.|
|Truthspeaker|Let's buff up that armor just a little bit more. We might need it.|
|Dax Paragon|I had two mana points left and was torn between Dax and Herbalist. I chose Dax because it has more health and magic attack might pass through opposing armor if void is not in play. Ranged attack will have to go through armor no matter what.|
|Venari Crystalsmith|To stand a chance, there has to be some healing. With 24 mana there will be more than one attack and armor plus repair might not do it for the Conjurer to hold the line. It also brings two ranged attack and 5 health to take at least a little damage.|
Oh boy. Once more: Hindsight is 20/20. I now realize Dax was not the ideal choice. Should have gone with the Herbalist.
There are several strategic rules one should follow (but not blindly as for every rule, there is of course the exception) and one of these rules is: Do not pay for an ability double if it does not stack.
Had I followed that rule I would have left Dax at home and taken Herbalist into the team. I do not need another card granting amplify but sure could use the cleanse ability, as you are about to see.
## The Battle

There is the suspected Llama and Kron at the rear end waiting for that final stand to kick in. The failed summoner is a good choice as a first tank to take out my back line if it comes with magic.
Epona will push their health up by another point, making it +3 in total with Llama's boost.
The shock moment was the discovery of Doctor Blight. The poison effect will surpass the armor, affliction will keep me from healing my tank.
Am I doomed once more because of a flawed strategy?
The reflected magic just splashes against my armor which in turn will be repaired by Adelade. So far so good.
Since there is no tank healing in the other team I might be able to take them out one after the other until Kron reaches tank position.
And there is still Doctor Blight wrecking hammock with affliction.

Speak of the devil, after causing affliction in round 1 Blight lands a poison shot in round 2. Now I definately regret not taking the Herbalist with me.
At least I got rid of the Failed Summoner in round 2 so reflection does not worry me anymore. Sadly, with Conjurer poisoned and afflicted my opponent will have a similar relief in round 3 I guess.
After Epona is gone, Blight follows stante pede but the damage is done, the Conjurer will die by poison after this round.
Kron takes tank position and gets last stand. It will heal 6 health each round while I deal out only 5 damage. Since Kron only hits once Adelades repair will take care of the armor each round. So no direct damage to my team.
I suspect a stalemate which will trigger fatigue starting in round 20. With Kron's healing my team will vanish while Kron remains standing and the battle is lost...
Oh right, spoiler alert at the beginning of this post. But how?

Conjurer dies. Adelade resurrects! And as I pointed out in [this post](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@hannes-stoffel/the-power-of-resurrection) the Conjurer comes back without affliction or poison. Only one health but full armor and it only has to take one hit each round.
With the reflected (and amplified) damage from the Conjurer that Kron is gone.

Remove Dax from the team and put the Herbalist in. Reasons were given over and over up above.
This combination of Rathe + Conjurer + Adelade makes a pretty heavy defense against magic for only 15 mana. In low to mid range mana battles it can be supplemented with tank heal, silence and cleanse, depending on the costs and situation.
But beware, these teams are all susceptible to opportunists, snipers and sneakers. So best use them either if L+K is high probability or in rulesets like fog of war.
