A couple of weeks ago I finally started [writing about my favorite streaming service dropout.tv](https://hive.blog/television/@hanshotfirst/a-geeky-guy-s-guide-to-game-changer-on-dropout-tv). I began with my favorite show on the platform Game Changer. I intended to follow it up right away but I keep getting distracted with other topics.

Today I'd like to share a little about a spinoff from Game Changer called "Make Some Noise". This show has morphed into a more traditional improv show but it began as a game on Game Changer where three contestants "competed" based on prompts from the host Sam Reich. The first three contestant, who have become known as "The Noise Boys", were Josh Ruben, Zac Oyama,  and Brennan Lee Mulligan. Seeing that Josh and Zac are experts at sound effects, the game began leaning more toward making or identifying sounds. They worked in some prompts where BLM (Brennan Lee Mulligan) could flex his quick wits, character voices, and impressions. The first episode was hilarious with Brennan eventually winning the coveted "golden ear".

After the success of this game on Game Changer, Dropout decided to create a stand alone show. As the show has evolved, it has moved away from being based mainly on sound effects and has become a great vehicle for brilliant improv comedy. Just like Game Changer, you are never exactly sure what you will get. Some of the best episodes are "Karaoke Night" where contestants improv songs. 

They often start the show with a mini game called "Take Direction" which involves the contestants saying a the same line of dialogue but changing the delivery based on Sam's direction. Sometimes they have contestants look at a picture and quickly come up with a funny name or a funny line the thing would say. They may also be asked to come up with a rap on the spot or to do a monster truck voice over for a child's party.

They sometimes have the performers make up a gibberish language while the other contestants translate for them.Some of my absolute favorite prompts include: Your great aunt commenting on your junk drawer, Two reindeer quietly trash‑talking Santa, The student with one line in a play screws it up, Bouncer on Noah’s Ark, Abstinence-only leaders who’ve had sex with each other (this one is beyond brilliant!), A sommelier who’s never tasted wine, Two sea captains competing and Carnival barker for free Craigslist section.

Although it poses as a game show, the points are all nonsense. One of the bits is the host Sam Reich giving absurd points like "points as far as the eye can see" or "A rollercoaster Tycoon amount of points". It is really just a vehicle to allow the comedians to be hilarious. Quite often the prompts are written specifically for a certain contestant. If they know they do an awesome impersonation of someone famous, they make sure to give a prompt involving that celebrity doing something entertaining. 

Obviously some prompts or shows are better than others, but I always laugh several times each episode. I highly reccomend checking it out.
